We were booked to style and stage DanIel’s bachelor pad, we were very conscious about approaching this space from a minimalist perspective. Dan told us he likes a lot of earth tones and wanted to display all of his art. He also likes a lot of natural light and greenery. So we knew it would be eclectic to the overall esthetic of the space.

What she wanted vs. what she got... The initial given reference was a psychedelic TicTok room. Almost right away, I noticed the entire ceiling was covered with leaves. I thought we should flip it and do the opposite! My thoughts were “how can we give this room a TicTok feel but put our spin on it”. My mother came up with the idea to run the leaves along the wall and wrap them around the canopy. We were also conscious about minimal use of LED lighting so we added in just enough of them to enhance the esthetic of the space! This was the end result...

If we see it in our minds, we know it can be done! We envisioned this space from start to finish. Everything from the navy blue accent wall to every throw pillow. It all started with this sofa and as always we made it happen!

The key to pulling this off was going for colors that would pick up the tan undertones of this coppery, rust shade sofa. Ultimately making it easier to add in mixes of colors like blue, mustard gold and creme.

The mix of colors and the abstract pattern added contrast to the navy blue and white sheer curtains. The throw pillows all play well with the sofa because they share the same intensity and rust color.

Xtreme Takedown is located in Chicago and close proximity of the Bronzeville and Hydepark area. We were given very specific details about everything this space is used for. Braids are taken down, hair is colored and styled. All while custom trays are made in this space with airbrush stencils and spray paints.

We approached this space as we do any other with functionality being essential before any styling and staging.

At 14, Daveon is more mature than most teenagers. So we approached this space with that in mind. LED lighting was specifically requested and rather than running a strip along the ceiling we found this really cool touch lamp with different lighting features. We wanted to keep it modern so we choose striped design bedding with a twist of chevron pattern. Making the bed a focal point when you enter the space. The use of motivational wall art was essential for daily affirmations.
