Did you know that mudcloth holds special meanings and symbolism? Mudcloth is traditionally handmade by Bambara/Bamana people of Mail in West Africa. It has been traditionally used as ritual protection from hunters, a badge of status, and even used to absorb pain and deflect danger during childbirth. Phew! What a start to the year! Just when I thought things were off to a crazy start, it got even crazier! I was hoping to have bags a lot earlier, but life had different plans. So….in celebration for my 30th birthday, I am thrilled to share that our classic designs and more will be available tomorrow! You can expect to see our small coin pouches, key fobs, classic zipper pouches, and new tote bags. I will also be featuring some BRAND NEW designs that are made from our one-of-a-kind mudcloth! Well… the start of this year was a bit rough 🥴 I, unfortunately, have been recovering from covid and got stuck in California over the holidays….But look how cute this custom order turned out! Should I add it to my inventory???

What a year 2022 was! Mindful Homeware turned a year old and has become something I am so proud of. There were many highs and lows, but I cannot emphasize how grateful I am to all who have supported this dream of mine.

I won’t lie… I definitely shed some tears from discouragement and embarrassment. I sobbed to my best friend after my first craft show was a total flop. But I also got to smile, laugh, and most importantly learn! After the overwhelming success of my last craft show of the year, I can officially say that I cannot wait to see what 2023 has in store. It is my hope to continue to grow my business and explore new designs. Cheers to you and the new year! 🥂

These little guys are being added to our small waxed canvas zipper pouches. Our genuine leather tags are hand stamped, cut, and are made entirely out of veg tanned leather.

Did you know that veg tanned leather will naturally fade to a beautiful rich brown color after time and use? It adds such a beautiful personal touch to each bag over time.

Truthfully I never understood why people like key fobs…that is until I finally made one. I thought they were unnecessary and kind of clunky looking but I figured I would give it a shot. My ADHD self is CONSTANTLY losing my keys around the house. It is an ongoing battle with myself that I came to terms with. That was until I put one of these bad boys on my keys. Total game changer! I can now easily put this on my wrist, easily find it in my bag, and it catches my eye when I look for them. I can officially say I am a fan.

These were also a HUGE hit at the last event I did! I figured I would just sell these for in person events, but I may make them available online if anyone is interested 😊

I think these coin purses might be my new favorite thing to make! I have really sucked at posting on my Instagram page lately but for all good reasons! Things picked up a bit and I have been exploring some new design ideas and products. Sometimes I have to remind myself to just have fun creating 💛

It’s been a minute since I have posted on here, and for good reason! This bag and many more will be available at my stand at the this weekend! I have been working my butt off this week trying to get ready for my first market. Unfortunately I have already experienced some speed bumps with trying to get my business cards in on time and trying to figure out how to put together a good looking stand in my 950 square foot apartment 🙃 but we are finally getting down to crunch time! Did you know that we sell more than just bags? While our zipper bags are the most popular, we also sell other household goods! Our double gauze napkins are finally getting a little bit more love these days and I figured I would show them some love on here 💛

While these didn’t exactly fly off the shelves like I hoped 🥴 They are slowly starting to pick up a little more. Hoping they continue to trend because they really are a lovely and sustainable addition to the kitchen.

These come in 2 sizes, 5 different colors and are unbelievably soft. For cleaning, all you have to do is throw them in the wash on cool and lay them out flat to dry (recommend) or toss them in the dryer. They are so easy and bring a nice rustic touch to your dinnerware.

Having some fun with some scrap fabric and my new machine! I’m thinking about repurposing my scrap fabric to make some cool tags. I try my best to keep my small business as eco friendly as I possibly can. One of the ways I do that is through my shipping and packaging(it is all recyclable!), and another is by holding onto all of the scrap fabric instead of throwing it out! I love the idea of maybe turning the scrap fabric into something useful. What do you think?

Getting ready for fall 🍁
These past few weeks have been super busy over here. I am in the process of getting ready to apply for fall and winter markets for the first time!!

When I first started this journey, markets were always something that I dreamed being a part of. I have always loved the energy, connection, and experience of markets but I never thought I would get there.

Unfortunately, there is no guarantee my applications will be accepted, but I am really hoping all this hard work will pay off. Stay tuned for some more pictures and products 😊

This big guy can carry a TON! I made a big tote bag a long time ago and it has been my go-to bag for heavy and bulk items. I could seriously fit an entire weeks of groceries and comfortably walk home! Inspired by our current minimalistic designs, I decided to create a replica of my every day tote bag to match with our zipper pouches. I don’t know about you, but I personally think it turned out great 😊 This bag features authentic leather straps, gold rivets, and easy access pockets! Oh and of course, can be personalized! As a small business owner, I often find myself very anxious when I send out an order. I worry that I may have forgotten something or messed up a bag. I worry the post office will lose the order or the recipient won’t like my work and leave a terrible review. But despite my anxious perfectionistic voice telling me to can’t do this, My joy for this is the voice I choose to believe. It’s not about getting rid of anxiety, it’s about acting on your dreams despite the anxiety 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛

What are ways you create peace and mindfulness in your home? The world is a chaotic place. It has not been easy to create presence and peace in our lives these past few years. Our homes have become a place where we have to balance all of our life roles. You deserve moments of presence and peace. Sometimes it can be through small gestures or big. I always enjoyed finding those grounding moments through very small ways. Through textures, scents, and visuals. I have tried to create things in my home that allow me to look around and feel a sense of connection with my space. The products you see here are not just random, they are made intentionally for you to be able to feel intentional with your space. For you to find peace in the small things. It’s my hope that you find your moment of peace somewhere today, even if it is something small ❤️
