Today Mayor Lightfoot, 4th Ward Alderman King, city officials, and the development team, GRIT, broke ground on the infrastructure of Bronzeville Lakefront, a 50-acre mixed-use development on the historic site of the former Michael Reese Hospital. For years, NSPB has worked alongside stakeholders from the Michael Reese Advisory Council to get this development launched. Congrats!

City of Chicago Reaches $10 Million Settlement with Uber Eats, Postmates (Links)
The Mayor’s Office, Department of Law and BACP announced that Uber has agreed to a settlement stemming from the City’s investigation into UberEats’ and Postmates’ practices of listing Chicago restaurants on their platforms without the restaurants’ consent, being in violation of the City’s emergency fee cap ordinance, and other advertising-related conduct.
Below is helpful information to share with your network and colleagues.
Uber Eats and Postmates Settlement:
• Restaurants previously listed on Uber’s platforms without consent should visit Chicago.gov/UberSettlement and follow the instructions to receive financial relief and commission waivers.
• Restaurants that were charged commissions in excess of the fee cap in 2021 will receive payment automatically from Uber.
