A Certificate of Innocence is a powerful form of post-conviction relief that certifies that the petitioner was innocent of all offenses for which they were incarcerated, formally acknowledges their wrongful conviction, and allows them to seek financial restitution from the state.
Today’s ruling brings the total number of exonerated victims of CPD Sgt. Ronald Watts to 115. However, there are still 83 Watts victims waiting for justice. Photo by Teddy Gonzales.
