Vase & Vessel
A curated collection of beautiful, interesting and timeless home accents.
Thank you for two (2) years! ✨🎉 Our 20% OFF sale starts today from 11-6pm, and tomorrow from 12-5pm!
🎨 We’re honored to be home to so many talented artists and makers. Thanks to the artists themselves, and all of our customers, our love and appreciation for handmade pieces has grown stronger.
🪴The plant community has been unbe-leaf-ably welcoming. The best part is when we’ve helped someone (you know who you are) find their first plant, and then seeing how much more knowledgeable and excited they became after every visit.
✨ We’re excited to help you continue to grow your plant, handmade, and home decor collection. Our home is one of, if not the most, valuable places to cultivate. They are our safe space from the fast-paced world around us, and being able to help you curate that space for the last two (2) years has been a privilege.
🇸🇪 And a big thanks to for all of the support they’ve given us over the past two years. We’re proud to be part of such a great community!
We can’t believe how fast time has gone by; it’s been blur—in the best way. We’ve met so many great people (and dogs) over the last couple of years; many of which have become regulars, and lots who we are lucky to call our friends.
We hope to see you tomorrow at our 2-Year Anniversary event! We’re giving you all 20% off everything in the store—including artist pieces. This is the last sales event we will have until November, where we will unveil our Holiday collection.
We’re turning 2! 🥳 And we’re having a weekend event to say THANK YOU for an amazing two years of Vase & Vessel.
Save the dates: Saturday, 9/21 from 11-6pm & Sunday, 9/22 from 12-5pm.
Stop by, say hello, and enjoy 20% OFF everything in our store—yes, that includes artist pieces!
FYI: this will be the last sale we have until our Holiday merchandise arrives in November. So, now would definitely be the time to snag a deal on anything you’ve had your eye on, or cross those gifts you need to get off your to-do list.
We can’t wait to see you all ✨
Have you seen our latest store revamp? ✨
This, now fully shelved section, used to have a gap featuring some photography prints on the wall. Surprisingly, it already feels so natural—like it’s always been there—even though it’s only been up for a few days. We’re excited because it gives us more real estate to host more artist work, fall arrivals, and will prove useful in the holiday season! 🍂
(Check out the last image to see what this section used to look like)
What do you think? Should we have kept the print wall up, or is the fully-shelved wall the way to go? Let us know!
We can’t wait to see you tomorrow at our Fall Preview Party 🍁
In the meantime, meet our favorite new arrival: a small collection of “found treasures” of vintage French kitchenware pottery. 🇫🇷
Originally manufactured by Poterie Renault, these pieces were used in nearly every café and restaurant in France for many decades. Poterie Renault began manufacturing this timeless pottery in France’s Loire Valley in 1847.
Eventually the company went out of business, and the pottery sat forgotten in its factory until this treasure trove of pottery was rediscovered in 2021.
We’re thrilled to be bringing these very meaningful, vintage pieces over the pond to Andersonville, Chicago.
We are CLOSED for Labor Day 🪴 Hope you all continue enjoying your holiday weekend! We’ll be back with normal hours tomorrow, and in full Fall-mode 🍂
Today may be one of the hottest days of the year ☀️ So here’s a sneak peak of what Fall vibes are coming our way in the coming weeks!
I don’t know about you all, but we are ready for cozy-sweater-pumpkin spice-weather. 🍂 (Say that quickly three times lol)
We hope to see you all very soon. Even if you’re hibernating inside while this heatwave passes—we’ll be here!
This section is ready for the weekend! ☀️
We’ve expanded our—most recent—line of candles by with a handful of new scents.
Also, how GOOD does it look right next to our metal vase collection (top) and right alongside handmade ceramic pieces by artist Anne E. Terpstra??
Next time you visit make sure to come see this back section—it’s much better in person!
Our brand stemmed from our love of handmade ceramics, most of which are functional pieces such as bowls, mugs, serving trays, and cute little dishes for condiments.
As we evolve, adding of our favorite food and snack items felt like a natural way to complement the handmade functional-ware our customer visit us for.
Our Vase & Vessel Pantry line has been slowly but surely growing, with new items arriving every week! We’re excited for you all to try these items, and we (of course) welcome all of your feedback on which ones you’re loving—and which you’re not loving so much.
We had a great time at this past week. We’re feeling really good about everything we say during this buying trip, and can’t wait to show you all the new items we are bringing to V&V.
There’s a really nice mix of plant tools and accessories, home decor items, tasty food accompaniments and more.
There was a collection of vintage French pottery that was pretty darn stunning (photo #4). So much so that we had to bring a few 100+ year old pieces back for our collection.
Buying trips are oftentimes a hit or miss. And this one felt like a pretty big hit! We’re happy to be back in town and in time to see you all this weekend.
This week, Adam and I are scouring through AmericasMart Atlanta ( ) to find some new items to bring to Vase & Vessel.
So, if there’s a home decor item in particular you’ve been looking for, that no one else seems to have nearby, let us know and we’d be happy to keep an eye out for it.
🎈Today ONLY: Our biggest sale of the year is here! Take 20% of everything in the store. That’s right, artist pieces are also included—something we’ve never done before.
We also have treats from our friends at and ✨
Happy 4th 🎉 we are open 11-4pm today! We’re excited to see you all while you’re out and about enjoying your holiday.

We love pride month not only for its significance to the LGBTQ+ community but also for how vibrant the city (and our store) looks during it.
Why do you love pride month? 🏳️🌈
✨MSF 2024 starts tomorrow ✨We’ve changed our shop hours a bit, so here’s a full breakdown of when we’ll be open during the fest.
Fun fact - Midsommarfest is one of my favorite fests of the year lol All jokes aside, I love Andersonville, and, at least for me, this fest truly does feel like the official start of summer.
It’s also just fun as ever! So if you’ve never been, or are new to the area, this fest is a must! The neighborhood shows up and shows out!
A few weeks ago we were fortunate enough to be featured in Traditional Home Magazine () under the “Movers & Makers” section.
This section is saved for the minds behind fresh designs, and for Vase & Vessel to be part of that conversation gets us really excited.
The spot feature reads:
“Vase & Vessel grows beauty in plant form and otherwise. The Chicago garden boutique, founded by partners Bill
Dlugokienski and Adam Kruse, encourages bringing the outdoors in. Its jardinieres, dehydrated florals, and handmade ceramics pamper the home.”
As some of you may know, our store acts as an extension of the home decor, handmade, and plant items we ourselves find beautiful.
And the fact that you share that same affinity towards those things means when we’re featured, so are you. V&V has always been about community: building it, supporting it, cultivating it.
Thank you for being part of our journey 💚🪴
With our summer days quickly going from warm to HOT, the lure of having an ice-cold drink on a breezy afternoon sounds pretty relaxing.
So whether you’re sitting on your front deck, at the beach, or going to a friend’s barbecue, drink mixers are a nice way to add flavor to everyone’s favorite summer drink. Pair it with your favorite mocktail, cocktail, or ice tea; it’s something the whole family can enjoy!
These mixers, by Wood Stove Kitchen, are 100% natural and crafted in small batches in New England. WSK invests in sustainability by using glass bottles, less plastic, supporting bee colonies, and sourcing materials as locally as possible to help reduce their carbon footprint.
When it comes to sourcing products for Vase & Vessel, we are committed towards finding makers that are interested in creating positive impacts—for environments and people alike. Sustainability, inclusivity, equality, fair-trade, sourcing locally, and reducing waste are all causes we value and strive to cultivate as well.
Here’s a question we’ve been contemplating recently: How important are a company’s values and ethical practices to you (our tribe)?
Tell us what you think in the comments below!
Lots of bright colors are always scattered throughout our space. We look forward to seeing you all this weekend!
Just as a reminder, we will be closed Monday, May 27th in honor of Memorial Day.
Just a little heads up on a few days our store will be closed leading up to Memorial Day 🎉
- Wednesday 5/22
- Thursday 5/24
- Monday 5/27 (Memorial Day)
We see a lot of new faces around here, and we think it’s a great opportunity to reintroduce ourselves.
Hi there, I’m Bill (right) and this is my husband Adam (left).
Vase & Vessel was born as a hobby for us in June 2020. Our vision was to create a space to showcase my passion for handmade ceramics that we collect during our travels, work from local artists, home décor, and, of course, plants.
We started by selling ceramic planters at Andersonville Galleria and expanded to include houseplants just a month later.
The popularity of our booth at Galleria led to a significant growth over the course of two years. In the summer of 2022, I left my long-standing career in higher education to pursue my dream of opening a retail home store in Andersonville.
On September 21, 2022 Vase & Vessel opened its doors for the first time. Last year we were lucky to have celebrated our first birthday, and in four-ish months we will celebrate our second.
We take great pride in how much our business has grown and are (consistently) overwhelmed by the love and support that our customers and neighbors have shown to our little shop.
We anticipate being part of Andersonville’s small business community for many more years.
What’s your favorite thing about Andersonville? Let us know in the comment! We’ll go first.
Stopped by fest to say hi to a few familiar faces, and, of course, meet some new ones.
I love going to fests as it helps to remind me that (almost) every artist starts from humble beginnings. I met some artists who are new others who are veterans in their craft. And seeing them shoulder to shoulder, representing themselves through art, inspiring.
Let’s just say we may have a couple new local artist come into the shop soon.
What was your favorite Renegade booth? 🤔
