Dr. Lorry Leigh Belhumeur’s new book is inspiring. Her frank, heartfelt, but also very informed writing make for an enlightening tool that I will read and use over and over again in my daily life. I’d heard about ACEs and didn’t immediately realize that I too suffered childhood adversities that continue to affect me as an adult. Dr. Lorry spells it out so clearly and we learn from her as well as the others’ stories recounted in the book.

I also really love the use of the Kintsugi metaphor as a nurturing and empowering way to think of one’s own psychic healing. Yes, there might be a fracture or a chip (or even many) suffered because of childhood trauma, but we as adults can add something valuable and new and precious to shore up those fractures to create something stronger and even more beautiful. Thank you Dr. Lorry for your wonderful work and your so very useful book.
