The Philippine CPAs of Greater Chicago celebrated its 50th anniversary last November 4 which was attended by the past and current officers and members of the Organization, the President and CEO of the Illinois CPA Society, officers from the NCPACA and affiliated organizations, and officials from the Philippine Consul General - Chicago.

PCPA Chicago was hailed as champions during the NCPACA National Conference - talent night held at San Francisco, California.

The Philippine Certified Public Accountants of Greater Chicago (also referred to as PCPA, PCPA Chicago, or PCPAs of Greater Chicago) is a non-profit organization, founded by a group of Filipino CPAs in 1973. PCPA is a chapter member of the National Council of Philippine American Canadian Accounts (NCPACA), a non-profit professional organization represented by accounting professional organizations from various major cities of USA and Canada.

PCPA aims to (1) uphold the dignity of the accounting profession, (2) encourage its members to strive for professional excellence, and (3) undertake projects in pursuance of its commitment of service to the community.

The organization has set realistic goals in carrying its objectives and committed to three events during each year: (1) General Membership Meeting and Election of Officers during our Summer Picnic or Pre-Fall Get-Together, (2) Professional Development during our attendance to the NCPACA Convention, and (3) Awarding of Scholarship, through PCPA Foundation, to Accounting Students during our Christmas Lunch.

PCPA Chicago has hosted three times the NCPACA Convention: “Mastering the Winds of Change” in September 1997; “Navigating the Complexities of Change” in July 2009; and “Accept, Adapt, Appreciate the Profession’s New Challenges” in September 2021, the first (and hopefully the only) virtual convention during the pandemic.

Celebrating its 50 years (!) this year, PCPA has evolved since then to adapt to the changes in the accounting profession, its members, and the dynamics of the organization. The founding leaders and members continue to guide and inspire the emerging leaders and members in the organization. What makes PCPA survive over the last five decades is primarily its adaptability to change.
