My obsession is orchids! 😍

After taking a year and some change off from floral designing, I’m back! I started my motherhood journey and focused all my time and energy on my amazing little man. I recently found my groove, kind of, and decided it was time to take some for myself and do something for me. So here I am, playing with gorgeous flowers 🤗 it feels so good to be back!

With Thanksgiving coming up, I decided to arrange a bright fall piece. I hope it warms your cold day!

Hi, I’m Lema and recently started my own floral business - Stems by Lem. I haven’t formally introduced myself yet so I’m taking some time on this lovely Friday afternoon to do so.

As a young child, I would take seeds off of flower bushes and replant them in other areas of the yard. I would always help my dad with the gardening and Spring was definitely my favorite season 🤗 my family went to see the cherry blossoms in DC basically every year 🌸 I just loved flowers!

I went to the University of Maryland 🐢 and graduated with a Early Childhood Education degree. I loved working with kids since they’re sp special ❤️ but it just wasn’t the right fit. I started working as a legal assistant in DC for a high profile attorney at a nationwide law firm after graduating. I worked for him for five years until I moved.

I’m originally from Rockville, Maryland but moved to Chicago when I married my husband, Ryan. I continued working at the same firm but in our Chicago office for four years.

I quickly learned this wasn’t the job for me but I was comfortable so I stuck with it for that long.

Ryan encouraged me to find something I’m passionate about and with the extra support of his Grandmother, here I am!

I’m extremely excited to share my passion for flowers with you! I hope you enjoy my work and that we work together in the future! 🤍

What’s the hardest part of your job?

Mine is having to pick flowers! They’re all so beautiful and as a very indecisive person, it takes me forever to choose!
