The cream ale is a uniquely American brew. Unlike its American pale lager brethren, the Genesee Cream Ale is made with an ale yeast that is fermented at a cooler lager like temperature.

Hops have been used by humans since pre-historic times for many purposes including the treatment of wounds, as a sedative and later as a bittering agent and preservative in beer.
The hop plant belongs to the family Cannabinacea which also contains the genus Cannibis (h**p). The etymology Humus Lupulus is derived in part from Latin. Lupulus is from the Latin Lupus (wolf) because as Pliny described "When the plant is produced among oisers, it strangles them by its light, climbing embraces, as the wolf does the sheep."
That distictive bitter and floral flavor in many beer styles is due to it's hop content balancing out the sweet malts.
