Roti Canai // Paratha

In the heart of George Town, Penang, bustling with the aroma of spices ( breakfast 5am ) lies a love story as rich and flaky as the layers of ROTI CANAI! Yuuummmm

For me, what’s roti canai without Dahl / Lenthil curry topped with a healthy dollop of SAMBAL, I mean, cmon LAH! In our home, it’s our food of LOVE. Simple and wholesome. Blessed! 7 years later, we are still having it from time to time for breakfast, lunch and dinner, sometimes supper in Chicago 🥰😜

Familiar 3. The Cat in the Box

As our journey unfolded, we encountered yet another member of the Sambal Lah family. Familiar 3. This curious and playful feline had a unique fascination - boxes! 📦😺

Familiar 3 (TUX🥰) couldn’t resist to impose that she could pre temp the boxes but amidst the clatter, the sight of this adorable furry bundle of joy taught us the art of contentment, and finding joy in the simplest things.

She’s the Cat in the Box. They find comfort in the most unexpected places. I mean, it’s a cozy box 📦 and she’s a Cat🐈‍⬛ in the Box. BLESSED🥰

While some journeys may require an assembly of sorts, we had our familiar. ROXY the french bulldog!!

To create a great product, the only way is to do an outdoor test. Steadfast! ROXY immediately stood in gallantly even before the thoughts on our minds was in motion.

HuzzaaaahhhhHH! We found our champion. Nature approved. Stands the taste time for your outdoor activities 🍔🥙🌮🍛🍲🥟🍚🏕️

Following the serendipitous journey, the more we researched, the more our vision of Sambal Lah came to life!

It was like a treasure hunt (..still is 🤓), for the perfect balance of SPICE! 😋The next chapter of Sambal Lah is a tale of flavors waiting to be explored.

Destiny has a way of dropping hints and we couldn’t ignore this one.

With any great quest comes research and there’s a library, archive, or maybe a wizard. Mine was a library. The Humboldt Park, Chicago Public Library.
