With heat waves sweeping across the country, blue-green algae is appearing in new areas and posing an increased risk to pets.
Found in lakes, ponds or any source of standing water, it’s extremely toxic and consuming it can be fatal. The best way to prevent accidental poisoning is to keep a close eye on pets when they’re around water.

We're right in the middle of the dog days of summer. It's important to make sure your cat stays cool on these hot days. Below are some tips to keep kitty cool.
-Provide lots of fresh, cool water for your cats. You may want to add extra bowls
-Try putting ice cubs in the water to keep it cool and to entertain them!
-Don't lock cats in one room, closed off rooms get hot quickly.
-If you don't have air conditioning, make sure you have lots of fans to provide air circulation.
-Open windows (but not too far! You don't want kitty falling out the window!)
-Close blinds to keep the direct sunlight out of the house
-Provide cool napping spots. You can get cooling pads online, or stick a towel in the freezer than place on kitty's favorite napping spot.
Heatstroke is no joke! Make sure to keep your pets properly cool and hydrated to avoid overheating.
