LPCS needs your help to serve the record numbers of Chicagoans experiencing homelessness. https://www.lpcschicago.org/donate
Our CEO, Cheryl Hamilton-Hill, spoke to Fox Business yesterday about the new HUD 2023 annual Homeless Assessment Report. This national report, a snapshot of the unhoused population, shows that on a single night in January 2023 there were more than 650,000 unhoused people in America—a 12 percent increase over 2022 and the highest number ever recorded. “There are quite a few more people over the age of 55 that are experiencing homelessness," said Cheryl, "all the way up into their 80s.”
Here in Chicago, the statistics are dire. According to the same report, the unhoused population increased 58.4% from 2022 to 2023, including a significant increase in homeless veterans. LPCS served a record 3,343 in all our programs in 2023 and the need is only growing.
LPCS needs your help to continue providing a full range of services to the largest number of unhoused individuals. Your gift provides showers, meals, care kits, case management and housing to Chicagoans in need.
The need has never been greater. Please go to https://www.lpcschicago.org/donate to make your year-end gift today.

Last week, Krystal Casey and rang the bell after 118 days with us, and we couldn’t be proud. The progress Krystal has made has been inspiring to us all. One of the best sources of evidence are the glowing reviews we received from her employer. Our own reviews would be equally glowing because Krystal has been an invaluable member of the 600 community at LPCS. Congratulations, Krystal, and best of luck on your own!
Kerry DeBerry has rung the bell! While this is a hard-won congratulations, saying goodbye is not easy. Kerry possesses a heart of pure gold, and we’re lucky and grateful that he shared all that love with of us. We’ll miss the kung-fu movie nights, being serenaded with Jimi Hendrix covers on his beat-up guitar, and his nuggets of wisdom. Congratulations, Kerry! You earned this and then some 🎉
