Abstract artist spent her Artist in Residence weekend using canvas as a medium to explore colors, textures and patterns. Starting with just black and white, Bre layered in pops of color to highlight the importance of looking past what you see on first glance.
Bre shares, "I tend to paint with bright colors and multiple layers – my goal is that each time someone looks at my art, they peel back those layers and really see how I got to the final product. The intention of this piece is to take a step back and see that when we stop seeing things in black or white, we can see vibrancy in colors that really only pop contrasted with black and white paint".
While this beauty on slide 2 isn't in the elevator anymore, you can explore more of Bre's work at 🎨

From laundry room to hotel room. We invited Chicago-based artist to stay at Ace last weekend and imagine the hotel room as if it was their home studio — an open space to imagine and create. KB (who prefers to remain anonymous) did just that, dreaming up original pieces inspired by their hotel stay.
Increasingly confined to home as the pandemic intensified last March, KB found refuge in their laundry room and began painting. Reminiscing about the previously taken for granted experience of dining out, KB was inspired to use the ubiquitous guest check as the backdrop of their work. For over a year now, KB has used this format to paint phrases that seem to transcend the collective dining culture we all yearn to return to.
Keep up with KB and explore their full collection of work at 🎨
