There's just under a week left in our extended application deadline for the 24/25 Burnham Fellowship Cohort! We're nearing the halfway point of The Summer Institute of Faith & Work. It's been a great few weeks connecting and learning alongside men and women from across the city. Tomorrow night we'll talk about the effects of sin and brokenness on our work and industries.
“Work is not our enemy. Sin is our enemy. And only Christ is adequate to deal with sin. His strategy for dealing with sin, however, is never to remove us from the jungle, but instead to make us adequate to live in the jungle. . . Sin may make the work world a jungle. But we must never forget that Christ is the Lion of Judah, the King of the jungle!” - Your Work Matters to God, Sherman and Hendricks
Over the years we’ve worked with businesses, churches, and non-profits to introduce the principles of faith and work integration. Utilizing the Foundations content we’ve developed over the last 10 years, we’re happy to customize a session(s) that fits your needs.
We’ve covered the material in various formats from an evening event to a half-day workshop, to a retreat, or a small group gathering. We’d love to discuss ways we could serve you or your organization with this engaging material.

Gene Veith argues, "Not only do we not choose our vocation, but strictly speaking, we do not find our vocation, as if it is something unknown, awaiting us in the future. Rather, our vocation is already here, where we are and what we are doing right now."
What are we missing if we think our life of purpose, love, and service to our neighbor doesn't begin until we search hard enough to find our vocation?
We believe the gospel doesn't just have something to tell us about our "spiritual lives" on Sunday morning, but about everything we put our hands and minds to every day of our lives. This includes our daily work - paid, unpaid, in the office, the classroom, or in the home. We all work and we all stumble over questions about what our faith has to do with it. Would you consider investing 6 Tuesdays this summer diving into these important questions?
Register by the end of the week so we can guarantee dinner!

Culture tells us to keep faith out of the workplace. But this is a religious claim in and of itself. As much as we want to think otherwise, the office, the public square, and the classroom are not neutral, faith-free spaces. We all have deeply held views of how the world should work. So how do we think about this as Christ-followers trying to live faithfully in our neighborhoods, classrooms, and places of work?
Join us for 6 weeks this summer as we tackle these and other questions about faith and work. Register ASAP for The Summer Institute of Faith & Work and join other Chicagoland professionals for dinner, discussion, and teaching.

"[work] should, in fact, be thought of as a creative activity undertaken for the love of the work itself; and that man, made in God’s image, should make things, as God makes them, for the sake of doing well a thing that is well worth doing."
How often are we tempted to think our daily work gets in the way of our "real life" or "ultimate purpose?" What if work is part of God's redemptive plan and an opportunity to love and serve and sacrifice for the glory of God and the good of our neighbor?
See your work with new eyes this summer! Join us for a 6-week deep dive into God's design and purpose for work alongside like-minded professionals across Chicago! We'll have dinner, teaching, small group discussion, and input from Christ-followers in various fields.
Register by June 16th to guarantee dinner availability!

Why might you consider applying for next year's Burnham cohort?
Luke decided to do Burnham this year "to gain deeper theological training - something I really craved and missed going to a large state school. Burnham is that and so much more in community with a group of life-giving Christians. Burnham deeply impacted my approach to my work in a stressful environment. Our view of Christ’s creation (work included) allows me to see redemption in the midst of chaos and brokenness."

We've had a full and fantastic week over here at Faith & Work Chicago!
Wednesday - We partnered with local churches and organizations to host our quarterly Salt & Light event. We loved learning from Dr Jerry Root and a panel of men and women seeking to share the love of Christ in and through their work.
Saturday - Our Burnham Fellows did an amazing job presenting their capstone Cultural Renewal Projects! They have worked hard throughout the year to apply the redemptive work of the gospel to an area of brokenness in their workplace.
Sunday - We hosted "A Taste of Burnham" at Edgewater Baptist Church. The next one is coming up on May 5th in the Loop. The Burnham Fellowship is a nine-month learning community designed to broaden your understanding of and deepen your connection to God’s redemptive work by applying theology, spiritual practices, and cultural renewal to your work, your relationships, and the city of Chicago.
We hope to see you at an upcoming event! Find the next one at https://faithandworkchicago.com/events
