Every cat thrives.

This Happy Ending Tail takes place outside, where this cat thrives best. 🌤️🏙️

Griffin, formerly known as Maroon, was transferred to Tree House from Chicago Animal Care and Control. He spent several weeks in our isolation ward recovering from a ringworm infection, where it was very obvious that he didn’t quite like being indoors in close proximity to people. This made him an unlikely candidate for the traditional shelter to couch adoption. Therefore, Griffin took a less-traditional pathway out of the shelter—he joined our Cats At Work Program. 🐈️

Since his release into an outdoor colony, Griffin has been thriving! He was placed with another cat like him, named Frankie, who had come from . The two of them are now playmates who are happy to be in their caretaker’s yard. Their caretaker reports that Griffin loves treats (and asking for them). He gets to use his agile skills to jump and climb tall fences to find places to bask in the sunlight. The best part? He gets to do all of this with his friend Frankie by his side. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

Meet Creature and Keepsake, a mother and son duo. 👩‍👦

Creature is a gorgeous calico with a cloudy eye, and is about three years old, while her ginger baby boy, Keepsake, is about five months old. This inseparable pair is available to be adopted into the same home. 🏠️

It’s not often that we mark a kitten as “Better Together” with another cat, because we know that it can make it harder for them to find the right Happy Ending. However, due to Keepsake’s incredibly shy nature and attachment to his mama, we knew it would indeed be better for them to remain a pair. 💕

But, don’t let Keepsake’s shyness stop you! Once you’ve gained his trust, he is a very sweet and gentle boy. He’s bonded with his mama and they can be seen curled up together like a pretzel. His mama, Creature, gives him the confidence he needs to interact with humans by showing him that we’re not so scary! 🤗 Creature will come up to you for snuggles and head scritches, and the hope is that one day, Keepsake will tag along with her to snuggle with you too!

Ergo’s foster dad quickly noticed something unusual in the way Ergo walked. He also realized the little tabby would not use his legs to jump. Radiographs that revealed that, despite his young age, Ergo’s knees were causing him severe discomfort. 😢🦵💥

Because of Tree House friends like you, 🤗 Ergo was able to receive corrective surgery and in addition to the physical transformation in his legs, he has experienced an amazing emotional transformation as well. This once shy cat is now incredibly affectionate and loves people. He started his Happy Ending when he was adopted earlier this fall, just in time for the holidays. 🎁❄️

Right now, more cats are waiting at Tree House for their chance to thrive. What holiday gift could be more meaningful than changing their lives too?

NICE CAT OF THE WEEK: Juniper ✅️👍️😄

She may be a queen, but she’s no diva. Juniper’s been so good at taking her thyroid medication in a pill pocket treat. We’re so grateful she prioritizes her health. We should all be taking notes from Miss Juni. 📓

NAUGHTY CAT OF THE WEEK: Honeysauce ❌️👎️😂

A cat who was so naughty, we nominated him twice! We are begging for someone to come get this Houdini of a cat off of our adoption floor! We swear he is trying to escape from his room just to get to his Happy Ending, but someone has to adopt him first. If you come for Honeysauce, make sure to bring A LOT of treats. 🍗

Calling all witches and wizards seeking a familiar! 🧙🧙‍♀️

On this National Black Cat Day, we're shining a spotlight on some of our magical, adoptable black cats — Osito, Leah, and Lemon Wedge. They're perfect companions for any magic enthusiast! 🐈️

Meet Osito, a clever kitty who's been with us for over 600 days. He's full of energy and loves playtime to keep his big brain busy. The only thing unlucky about Osito is the wait for his Happy Ending! 🕰️

If you're an introvert, Leah is your kindred spirit. She's a sweet and sensitive soul who'll follow you around for affection but retreats to a quiet place when guests arrive. She's waiting patiently for an owner who matches her calm, quiet demeanor. 🧸

This spooky season, Lemon Wedge is honing her silly, spooky skills—she even tried out a mummy costume by unraveling a roll of toilet paper! Bond with her using wand toys and Churu treats, and enjoy her famous "elevator butt" when you give her a good back scritch! 🧻🎃

Do you think black cats are lucky or unlucky? Let us know in the comments! 👇️

Adopt a black cat today and experience the magic firsthand! 🔮 https://treehouseanimals.org/adopt/adoptable-animals/

Chess and Othello have had a lengthier journey with us than most kittens. ⛰️

Last winter, they were diagnosed with a ringworm infection along with their mom and other siblings. In the isolation ward, these two shared a cage so that they wouldn’t be lonely as they went through treatment together. 🩺

After weeks in ringworm treatment, they became closely bonded and went up to the adoption floor together, where they spent weeks waiting for someone to take them home. They did eventually get adopted, but this part of their story only lasted a few months. They returned to our adoption floor in the summer, waiting once more. 🕰️

In August they began a new Happy Ending, and it seems to be going great! Their new names are now Emmylou and Louis. Emmylou is super playful and loves all toys, while her brother Lou has a select few favorites. When their new dad found that they had an interest in plants, he grew them cat-safe grass that they happily attack! 🌱

While they’ve climbed some mountains, we’re greatly comforted in knowing that they went through every adventure they have been on—together. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

NEW CAFE KITTEN ALERT! ☕️🐈️

Cool Kid just joined the crew in our Cat Café playroom, and he’s making progress getting to know his roommates, brothers Bass and Tenor. This classic tabby has got a ton of energy, so we know he’ll have fun with his new friends. Make your latte a double shot when you come to the playroom and meet Cool Kid. Not only is he super sweet, but he’s also super energetic! 💥

❕️ All three café kittens have the feline leukemia virus, but it definitely doesn’t stop them from zooming around the playroom. It just means they can only live with other FeLV+ cats. Cool Kid is available for adoption, and he would love to go into a home with another FeLV+ cat to play with. Learn more about him at https://treehouseanimals.org/adopt/adoptable-animals/?id=56407085

All need is love, and we’re thrilled to share that love was abundant last weekend at our City Kitty Soiree! 🎶

We kicked off the event with a delectable brunch spread, live music, and our surprise for guests—a kitten play space. Fox 32 News' station cat lady, Natalie Bomke, got the ball rolling for our program, during which we shared the heartwarming story of Brooke and her adopted Tree House cat, Scamper. Thanks to the generous contributions of our community, we raised nearly $60,000 at City Kitty Soiree! And that’s all going to help cats thrive here at Tree House. 🐱💞

💚🧡 We thank our groovy sponsors, The Bridal Beauty Team, My Neighborhood Vet, and the Smith Family for making this event possible. Special thanks to Brooke for letting us into her home and heart, reminding us all of the special bond we share with our feline companions.

Osito is one of our high energy resident cats and needs the right balance of care to thrive—and that's where you could come in. 😋

To help manage his energy levels and behavior, we've put together a behavior plan consisting of routine, enrichment, and medication. Like many of us who might need a bit of support from time to time, Osito is prescribed gabapentin to help him reduce his stress levels. With the combined expertise of Tree House's Feline Behaviorist and Veterinarians, we're committed to providing Osito with the best care possible. 😌

Osito enjoys plenty of structured playtime during the day as well as his own room (his “safe space”) to decompress in as needed. He spent the summer in a foster home, living with humans and animals alike, and received a glowing report – we knew he could do well in a home! 🥰

While gabapentin is part of his care now, it's not a permanent solution, and we're continually assessing his needs as we work toward creating the perfect environment for him. 🖤

Do you think you have the right lifestyle to hang with Osito? We’d love to get to know anyone who is interested in adopting this kitty. Read more about Osito at https://treehouseanimals.org/adopt/adoptable-animals/?id=49159354

Would you get a load of these Cast Cuties?! 🦵⁉️

Tiny baby, Mrs. Pepper, has a splint (made with a popsicle stick) for her broken limb. And Marshall—who we picked up from Chicago Animal Care and Control—has got a Manuka honey (known for its antimicrobial properties) wrap on to protect and heal the traumatic injury to his armpit.

Talk about a sweet recovery! 🍯

Can you help our community of cats thrive? 🐈️🙏

Our pet food pantry partners and cat colony caretakers are in need of cat food and our reserves are low! 😱 Our pet food pantry partners like The Friendship Center and One Tail at a Time’s Pet Mutual Aid help provide and distribute essential cat supplies to pet owners in need. And our colony caretakers feed and provide support for cats who do best outdoors. 🌲

We accept ALL donations of cat food, but we do have some preferences if you’d like to take notes. Got a pencil and paper ready? It’s easier for us to distribute cat food to the community if it’s packaged in smaller bags (about 10 lbs or less). As we start heading into chillier seasons, having access to kibble will help keep outdoor cats nice and warm. ♨️

📩 Drop off your donations at our shelter or donate through our Community Cats Amazon Wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/265Z1JPKU4ISZ/ref=hz_ls_biz_ex?fbclid=IwAR1fEzUIbcHyn9TKRdhUdJhRQDcHUXo3TcRsGHjhi0qh-8futhOiU18UUzQ

Back in 2022, Henry found his Happy Ending and left the Tree House for a bright future in a new home. 🏡 Fast forward to this past summer, Benji joined the party and found himself following Henry’s path. 🎉 From Tree House to their house, these two together have found perfect harmony.

Whether it’s playtime or nap time, Henry and Benji like to cozy up and stay close! 💤🧶 Henry always makes sure Benji is taken care of, and Benji helps keep Henry’s youthful spirit engaged.

NICE CAT OF THE WEEK: Kiki ✅️👍️

Our golden girl is also the most gorgeous queen you have ever seen. We heard from her foster that she likes to make you feel like royalty by sleeping on your pillow like a crown on your head at night. 👑

NAUGHTY CAT OF THE WEEK: Tenor ❌️👎️

We didn’t know our Cat Café would double as a barbershop when Tenor joined the crew. This tuxedo kitten will make you look as dapper as he looks when he starts chewing on your hair. We’re kidding. But we know he’s trying his best. 💈

A routine TNR appointment turned into an unexpected surgery that helped save a community cat’s life. This is Momma’s story. 🐈️🩺

Momma is a community cat who has been living outdoors for nearly five years, and she was elusive when we tried to trap her for vaccinations and a spay procedure. Unfortunately, she fell pregnant during this time but after the birth of her kittens she was eventually trapped and brought to Tree House. 🌳

While in our care, our veterinary technicians noticed Momma’s breathing was unusual and took an x-ray of her chest where it was discovered that she had a diaphragmatic hernia. In simpler words, her abdominal organs were up in her chest cavity! It is impressive that Momma had even survived pregnancy and birth with a hernia this severe.

It’s uncommon for us to come upon a situation like this during a TNR appointment. We couldn’t continue with the spay procedure without repairing Momma’s hernia. Without the hernia repair and spay procedure, Momma might have gone on to birth another litter of kittens with a hernia that would have likely become fatal. It was a risky procedure, but after discussing her quality of life with her caretaker, our team agreed to attempt the hernia repair and we’re thrilled to share that the surgery was successful! 🥰

Because Momma is feral, the best option for her recovery was to recuperate in a crate in her caretaker’s garage, where she would be safe and closely monitored.

Her caretaker reports that she can see a difference in how comfortably Momma is breathing, and has been keeping us updated on her progress. We’re so proud of our team for accepting this challenge and going above and beyond to ensure that every cat thrives. ☺️

Did Gremlin just give you a wink? 😉 We think so!

Just kidding. He has one eye. And it looks so cool. 😝

Gremlin came to Tree House’s adoption floor from foster care just in time for spooky season. 🎃 He has the name, the eye, and the floofy black fur—he’s PERFECT for Halloween or any time of year. It’s a chill time hanging around him, too, because he’s so mellow and laidback. Perhaps he scares off all the bad juju that might be lurking around. 🔮

We hope you’ve got your eye on Gremlin, because he sure has his eye on you. 👁️‍🗨️

Gremlin lives in Condo 5 on our adoption floor, so come on by anytime Wednesday through Sunday from 12 to 6 p.m. to meet him! Learn more about Gremlin and how you can adopt him at https://treehouseanimals.org/adopt/adoptable-animals/?id=41062500

Bartholomew is the most polite cat we have ever met—just look at those eyes. 🥺 He seems almost apologetic for having your attention. We would consider this the very opposite of orange cat energy.

While he’s getting to know you, Bart is like your shadow. He stands around the corner quietly, curious about you. And once he knows you’re his safe person, he will come right into your lap for cuddles and gentle head scritches. As you spend more time with him, you find out how silly and gentle he is. 🥰

This gray kitty once called the outdoors home, as you can tell by his ear tip. 🌳 Though his past remains a mystery, we know that Bart was not thriving outdoors. He's come a long way since arriving at Tree House—from a timid little kitty hiding under a blanket to an affectionate companion looking for a lap to curl up on. 💞 Bartholomew is ready for adoption directly from his foster home. Some cats make you work to gain their favor… 😜 When one of our summer interns met Barista Catista, she knew she was willing to put in the effort! 🥵

Renamed Nadja, a vampire from “What We Do In the Shadows,” this feline is now the queen of her castle and spends her time luxuriating in all the love and toys her new home can offer. Her adopter reports that Nadja prefers girl humans to boy humans. 💅 (She gets it.) Nadja has also managed to impress everyone—and herself—with how high she can jump, too! She and her human are off to a future of being “strong, beautiful, vicious, vibrant women”—together! 🧛‍♀️🦇
