Kicked off Summer Session ‘24 earlier this month by welcoming new Scholars with a paddle on Sunrise Lake! ☀️🛶

Before the Aurora Borealis were visible in Chicago, Academy Scholars partook in a workshop with Northwestern’s Center for Interdisciplinary Exploration and Research in Astrophysics .ciera earlier this month! Students learned about careers in cutting edge space research, participated in an interactive astro activity, and discussed mysteries of the universe like super massive blackholes and exoplanets 🔭🚀

For day 4️⃣ of Senior Summer Spotlight we are highlighting two Scholars who participated in pre-college programs. Emma spent her summer at studying Literature, Philosophy, and Culture 📖🧐 and taking a course in Neuroscience 🧠. Join us this Friday for our Sophomore Summer Project Showcase ☀️this culminating event will highlight the exceptional work our Scholars have completed over the past several weeks in their Writing & Critical Reasoning courses! Attend interactive presentations, meet Scholars, and learn about our summer program 🙌🏾

Last Friday Scholars visited the for their writing course ✍🏾 they wrote letters on typewriters, engaged with interactive exhibits, and learned about Chicago poets, novelists, and journalists who’ve influenced storytelling today

We have a diverse team of 11 Summer Assistants (6 returning Summer Assistants) who attend various schools from across the country 🏫Their unique experiences and expertise shine brightly, and guess what? ✨ They once wore the same shoes our current scholars wear and now they guide then on a path to success 👨‍🎓

Words can't fully describe how much the our current and past Summer Assistants play a pivotal role with our daily Summer Programming, in and outside the classroom 🥹 And we are grateful for the endless dedication and energy they put into everything they put into the work they do 🫂
