Supporting the @pilsenfoodpantry & additional anti-poverty programs (clothes, literacy, migrants)
Update: needs met - thank you everyone! 😘
Hi Facebook Family - we’ve been taking care of record number of migrants at Pilsen Food Pantry and have a few requests that I haven’t been able to source through Facebook marketplace:
1) High chair
2) Toddler bed
3) Tall dresser (mant low income families are in small apartments so compact furniture is more feasible). I've actually found multiple tall dressers but have more requests than supply.

What We’re About
The days before and weeks after Hurricane Maria in September, 2017 were especially challenging for many in the Caribbean. Both of Evelyn’s parents were born in Puerto Rico and many members of her family (including Evelyn’s father and stepmother) still live there. Following the 150mph winds of the hurricane, communication with the island was incredibly limited.
Regularly, friends and colleagues would email, text, and ask Evelyn how her family was doing and how they could help Puerto Rico. Many wanted to donate supplies and money, but did not feel there was sufficient transparency in most relief fundraising activities. After encouraging them to donate to the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians (fundraising for generators) and the Ricky Martin Foundation countless times, Evelyn knew she needed to take action. Evelyn traveled to the island from 11/13-11/19/17 to help deliver supplies. Although it was an incredibly painful week, she was inspired by the the strength, love, hope, and resilience of a people living through horrible conditions. She and her husband, Alex, decided to form a non-profit organization that would work to help delivery basic necessities such as clean water, electricity, indoor plumbing, safe transportation, financial stability, healthy food, and medical care to the deserving people of Puerto Rico.
