If you were wondering how much we love our patients—let this picture serve as proof that we love them A LOT! Here is Alex preparing a f***l donation for transplant! Some of our patients come to us with a significant dysbiosis of the gut. Because of this imbalance, they may suffer from diarrhea, absorption issues, weight maintenance issues, allergies, immune dysfunction and more. When we re-fluorinate the gut with the right bacteria, our patients get to be their most wildly healthy selves! Inside and out!

We think the “cone of shame” deserves a rebranding and Biscuit is helping make that happen! Wouldn’t you agree that she is really rockin’ her e-collar?!
Rich in sulforaphane, broccoli sprouts can:
• Protect cells from damage
• Increase antioxidant activity
• Protect the gut
• and more!
When dosed properly and preferably fed fresh, broccoli sprouts can be a great addition to your dogs care plan!

This is Rosie. She’s a Boykin Spaniel. While she may be small, she has a big personality that oozes energy, friendliness and love. Rosies parents came in today to discuss when they should consider spaying. While spaying and neutering help control the pet population, allowing your pet to fully develop helps reduce joint, hormonal and urinary issues on top of offering so many other health benefits!

As a small business, we love when we get to visit and support other businesses in our neighborhood. Chia Leah is having their grand opening today and we couldn’t be more thrilled! Go to 3217 Lake Avenue in Wilmette like Dr. Royal and load up on healthy snacks like granola or rosemary boost crackers—yum! 😋
While we could certainly talk about his tongue for days, what we actually want to discuss is why he’s visiting us today! This handsome fella is here for one of his puppy boosters. After todays visit, he’ll go home with thuja for detox. With puppies, we at RTVC strive to strategically and judiciously plan your puppies vaccines to be both safe and effective. Paying attention to how many weeks old your pup is, their current health, and understanding how the moms antibodies play a role, we are always thinking ahead!
This beauty visited us today for her annual exam and after we gave her a thimerosal free rabies vaccine, we sent her home with thuja and lyssinum as a a homeopathic detox. This is a wonderful example of what it means to have an integrative practitioner as your veterinarian!
2022 may be ending, but when it comes to the health of your pet—we never stop! Here’s Alissa, ready to perform cold laser therapy on one of our patients. Cold laser helps stimulate the mitochondria which calls in anti-inflammatory mediators. Used for a variety of ailments like arthritis, post-op recovery, UTIs and skin issues, laser is an amazing tool to incorporate into your pets health plan!

Looking for gift ideas for your dog 🐕 or cat 🐈?
We’ve got you covered!
Skip potentially toxic treats like raw hides or other shelf stable bones and opt for a fresh alternative like chicken feet or frozen beef femurs! When introducing raw bones or any new chew treat for the first time, do it slowly over 7-10 days. You can offer the new treat daily for 2-3minutes at first, slowly increasing this time over a week. Raw bones can be stored in the fridge for 3-5 days while fat/tissue remains. Give the gift of health this holiday season with this and other tips from RTVC!
New puppy alert! 🚨
Let’s welcome Gus, the French bulldog, to the RTVC pack!
Chicagoans, todays weather ❄️ is a reminder that winter is fast approaching and we want to be sure you’re prepared!
Follow these tips for a safe and happy winter season!
1. Use pet safe snow melt like playSAFE to avoid paw irritation.
2. Have your pet wear properly fitted booties when walking over unknown ice melt. or are great options, but remember to remove them once back indoors.
3. Keep your pet's fur in mind. Short fur may need a jacket while long fur may enjoy spending as much (supervised) time outside as possible. Avoid extended exposure to frigid temps to avoid potential illness and injury.
4. Pet's are generally less active in the winter and may need less food. Talk to your veterinarian for guidance on how to avoid over feeding.
5. Avoid toxic holiday plants. Check out the ASPCA website for a full list of plants to avoid!
