Psalm 23 remains my favorite, as I’m sure it is for many others. There is something so soothing about knowing Jesus is our good shepherd and He leads us with love and care. 🤍

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

for his name's sake.

There is something about the autumn season that is so comforting. The crisp mornings, sunny afternoons, warm sweaters, hot tea. ☕️

It’s a good time to start slowing down and prepare ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually for the winter ahead.

With that said I wanted to share a few verses to encourage you to seek out and trust God in this season:

I love this verse from the Gospel of Matthew. In Chapter 5, Jesus said to his disciples (in this context, disciple means student, so he was speaking to a multitude, not just the 12):

✨ You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.

After, Jesus said:

✨ You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

I love these verses and they inspired this tote bag design 💕 As Christians we are called not to be erased and complacent, but to be active in spreading God’s word of truth, redemption, and freedom!

I’ve been reading through the New Testament again, specifically the Apostle Paul’s letters, and this verse really stood out to me.

Sometimes I feel afraid that I’m not a good enough Christian, that I’m not doing enough, that my faith isn’t strong enough. I’m sure these struggles are familiar to you all too.

This verse reminded me that even when I lack faith, God’s own character is to be faithful. He cannot deny His own character and does not become unfaithful when we have moments of faithlessness.

Just wanted to share this encouraging snippet in case it might help anyone. 💕

I often see the words “love like Jesus” and while it may sound cute and fluffy, it has a very deep meaning.

Jesus’ love towards us when he walked this earth had nothing to do with feelings, but it had everything to do with action.

Some ways we can emulate the type of love Jesus showed are:

1) Always speak the truth✨

Jesus said some pretty controversial things that often caused people to be angry and hate him, but those things were always the truth. As followers of Christ, we must set aside our fear of rejection and instead choose to love others by sharing the full truth of the Gospel with them.

2) Truly seek to understand what others are going through✨

Jesus is known for his many miracles. What I find astounding is that he often did not perform a miracle right away but first took the time to dialog with the person, even if it meant prolonging their suffering. When he went to see Mary after Lazarus died, he listened to her and even wept with her, even though he knew he would raise him from the dead moments later. Loving others the way Jesus did means taking the time to listen and truly empathize with others before offering solutions or throwing verses at them.

3. Strive to be a servant to others, not be served✨

Jesus is the God of the universe made man. With that status, it would be absolutely his right to act as a powerful king and demand to be treated as such. However, Jesus was humble and meek, and acted as a servant to others. He humbled himself when he washed his disciples’ feet, and he humbled himself when he faced death on a cross. How much more should we, as followers of Christ, act as servants to others?

One of my favorite biblical concepts is the fact that Jesus has always been the same and will never change. 💕

This means we can rest in the confidence that his very word spoken years ago still applies to our lives today, and to the lives of Christians for years to come. 🙌🏼

So many times it can be easy to be overwhelmed with keeping up with the latest news, the latest trend, but that will surely lead to exhaustion and dissatisfaction as we realize that we can never catch up. We can never know everything when things are constantly changing and goal posts are being moved. 😰

That is why as believers we can truly rest in God, knowing that His very word is a reliable source of truth and will never change. 💓

Here are a few verses to encourage you:

✨ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. [Hebrews 13:8]

✨ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [John 1:1]

✨ For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed. [Malachi 3:6]

✨ The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. [Isaiah 40:8]

Lately I’ve been fixated on the biblical concept that words, if carefully chosen, can be life-giving to others. 🗣

There are so many verses on this topic throughout the Bible, and I’ve been wanting to dig a little deeper in what God’s word says, and how to actually apply it in my life.

Here are a few to start with:

Kind words are like honey— sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. [Proverbs 16:24] ✨

A soft word turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. [Proverbs 15:1] ✨

Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. [Proverbs 15:4] ✨

A person’s words can be life-giving water; words of true wisdom are as refreshing as a bubbling brook. [Proverbs 18:4] ✨

How often do you find yourself studying the word, feeling so encouraged and determined to apply something in your own life, only to fall short when the time actually comes to doing it? I feel like this happens to me constantly.

That is why God gives us his Grace, and we know that his love covers a multitude of sins. It’s okay to keep going back to the same verses and study them again, pray over them, write them on our hearts, until they become a part of us. 💙

The God of the Torah and Bible is not a god of fairy tales and rainbows. 🌈

Instead, God does set the expectation that there will be trials and suffering in our lives.

But we find our hope in the fact that our trials are not in vain, but rather, they are an indication of something greater to come. 🙌🏻

Biblically, our suffering holds a lot of significance:

☞ Our trials in this world help to grow our faith, and prepare us for the glory that is to come. [2 Corinthians 4:17]

☞ As Jesus was not spared from suffering, when we stand firm in our own trials, God promises to give us the crown of life. [James 1:12]

☞ God promises the righteous person that He will deliver them from all their troubles. [Psalm 34:19]

☞ We can still glorify God in our sufferings because He has assured us that they produce perseverance, character, and hope. [Romans 5:3-4]

Last night I was wide awake and couldn’t sleep, I suspect the Barista might have forgotten to make my latte a decaf 😅

We often hear the commandment that we are to love others as Jesus has loved us. However, I know that the word “love” can often be tossed around so much that it loses its meaning. 😓

So what does it truly mean to “love like Jesus”? 🤔

Biblically, love is defined as patient, kind, not self-seeking, not boastful or proud. But one piece that shines above all to me personally is the part about love rejoicing in the truth. [1 Corinthians 13:4-7] ✨

Indeed, telling someone the truth is the most loving thing you may do, precisely because it can be difficult to do. Loving someone like a neighbor means to put their right to know the truth above our fear of what they may think of us for saying the truth. It means being steadfast in God while the tides of society wash over others who may not be firmly rooted, and need us to be a lifeboat. 💕

So, this tote is more than just a cute quote on a bag. It’s a reminder of our calling, a calling that is difficult but rewarding in the end. 🙌🏻🤍

One of my biggest mind blowing moments when I became a believer was realizing that the world’s version of love is nowhere near to the truth. 🤯

I would even go as far and say it is a fraud. If focuses on feelings rather than action.

Yet we know that the heart is deceitful above all things [Jeremiah 17:9] 🤔
