From "Dealing with Collective Trauma" by CCC Clinical Director, Kerry Cochrane on the impacts of the pandemic on our sense of security: "Managing the sense of helplessness can feel more difficult because humans are not wired to live comfortably with constant uncertainty. Rather than wanting to control the situation or your emotions, it can be helpful to work on accepting this state of unknowing: we arenโt sure how long the pandemic will last, whether or when booster vaccinations may be needed, who may get sick. It is also helpful to acknowledge that itโs appropriate to feel some stress, anxiety, or sadness when so much seems precarious. These are normal reactions to an abnormal state of affairs. If anxiety or depression worsens or becomes a significant problem, however, it is important to seek help."
