Izzy taught us how to make Dorset buttons at the May meeting! We had a lot of success!
Successful program led by Izzy in making Dorset Buttons! We planned this before the pandemic, and we've finally had the session! Lots of different colors, and a good discussion of how to use them in our other needlearts projects!
As Mother's Day approaches, we're all thinking of the women in our lives and their impact on us. This bracelet - titled "Memories of Charlotte" - was designed and stitched by Heather Shulick as an homage to her grandmother, and was named winner of The Exemplary Heart award at The Exemplary 2022. You can read more about Charlotte at https://rb.gy/7s9yri. Here's hoping you are able to celebrate the holiday with the women special to you!
Winner Winner! At the opportunity basket drawing this year at Zen in the Glen, the Windy City basket was won by Terri Bay! Chapter members also got lucky. Cheryl Cole won the Columbus Chapter basket with a ton of linen and sampler charts (very on brand for Cheryl). Heather Shulick won the Town and Country chapter basket - a tree full of stitched ornaments! Congrats ladies!
Not only are we embroiderers, but we can paint masterpieces. Had a chill time last night at the Sip and Paint event at Zen in the Glen.
Windy City’s Opportunity Basket, at Great Lakes Region Zen in the Glen Seminar in Lisle
First day of Zen In The Glen. Great class with Kathy Rees - Whirligig. Chapter members Sharon, Pat, Heather and Jackie are well on their way with this piece.
How would you answer this question?
I have a long history of starting projects and never finishing them... this is from about 1968-70 when I discovered I could use floss on needlepoint canvas. Cheaper and more colors than wool!
What is your oldest, unfinished project?

While most of us know this date as Groundhog Day, we in Windy City prefer to think of it as "tutu" (2/2) day! Here's our tutu making member holding up one of the Nutcracker costumes...she has told us of the different kinds of tutus and her joy in making them. So Happy Tutu Day everyone!
🎄Happy 1 December! 🎀
RSN Stitch Bank will be releasing one stitch a day in the month of December, starting today and taking you all the way up to Christmas day!
This release is a very special one, as it is centered exclusively around Elizabethan stitches. For this we have been working with Jacquui Carey, author of Sweet Bags and Elizabethan Stitches (both available to buy via the RSN Shop). These include stitches from the period that have fallen out of use as well different ways of working familiar stitches.
Be sure to visit the RSN Stitch Bank website each day to see which new stitch will be revealed.
See the stitches here: https://bit.ly/3yrpiyV
P.S.. In January, we will be hosting a FREE Live Online Talk all about RSN Stitch Bank, where will welcome a panel of experts and users of RSN Stitch Bank who refer to it to inform their work.
Booking is available here: https://bit.ly/3N7RsFK

We are making great progress stitching this canvas in memory of our member Marilyn. We hope to have it ready to donate to our local library meeting place in 2024. The set of books are almost stitched! (Still to go: Winnie the Pooh, one Golden Book, and The Cat in the Hat...plus the wall and the shelf). Good effort by many members!
Windy City's meeting for November is this Saturday 11/11 at the Logan Square public library. For our program we'll be working on bookmarks to donate to the library in 2024! We'll have some patterns and fabric and perforated paper for you to work with, or you can bring along your own pattern and materials. Here are some we've already collected! Hope to see you Saturday!
Chapter members Sharon and Heather have been working on Toni Gerdes' "Ho Ho Ho" at the GLR Fall retreat, and keeping pace with each other. Just the border to go!
Registration is now open for these classes!
