She’s a deceptively boozy tropical summer sipper! “Wait, I’m a Star!” is a blended scotch pornstar martini riff. Identity Crisis was the prompt for this cocktail, so I found the median in the ultimate cocktail conundrum, a stiff stirred drink and proofed fruit juice. With horror movies always on my mind, this drink was inspired by MaxXxine, an angry, vivacious, pornSTAR.

The first question we get all the time, from newbies and enthusiastic drinkers alike, is when to shake versus when to stir a drink. Taken at face value, it’s easy: Shake drinks that have citrus, cream, or eggs. Stir ones that only have booze, bitters, liqueurs, fortified wines, and other sweeteners. 🥄
At The Violet Hour, we teach bartenders to customize their shake or stir based on how the drink will be served to taste right over the entire course of its life, not just the first sip. You need to consider how a cocktail is going to “rest” in the glass. With a drink served on ice, you want to stir just until it begins to open, because as it sits on the rocks, it will continue to evolve. If the drink is served up, you want it to be perfectly diluted for that first sip. 👏🏻

In Amatitán, Código 1530’s Blanco, Rosa, Reposado, Añejo, and Origen tequilas are the result of generations of refinement. Adhering to the cherished customs of the Los Bajos region, its skilled tequileros, and dedicated jimadors, the traditional methods are never strayed from.
The tequila-making process begins with fully matured agave, cooked in stainless steel ovens, fermented with yeast, and distilled twice in handmade stills.
Código 1530’s Blanco undergoes a 15-day perfection process, while the aged varieties are matured in French White Oak red wine barrels from Napa Valley.

A green tea’s sophisticated cousin, the Classless Chaps, combines TVH Select Sazerac Rye, Dry Curaçao, peach, lemon, lime, ginger, and jasmine. 🍵
lu.hoo vision for the Classless Chaps was to elevate and harmonize a “low brow” drink. Drawing inspiration from the Green Tea shot, we swapped peach schnapps for crème de peche and created an elevated TVH sour mix using lime, lemon, and PF dry. Ginger syrup and a jasmine rinse were carefully added as complementary flavors.
As Sydney likes to say, “It’s crafted for classy people with trashy taste.” 😂👏🏻

We have a no cell phone policy, though texting and tweeting are definitely permitted, and do ask that gentlemen not wear baseball hats. Our cocktail menu rotates seasonally but we also specialize in the classics, and feel free to ask about any previous drinks- if we have the ingredients, we can make it.
