For the first time in 50 years, The White House is holding a conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health! The last time this conference was held was in 1969 which lead to significant policies including: 1) Expansion of the National School Lunch Program and Foods Stamp Program 2) Permanent authorization of the School Breakfast Program 3) Launch of WIC 4) Creation of the Dietary Guidelines for American This year, Kelly Tappenden, RD, Ph.D., Professor and Head, Kinesiology and Nutrition, will take part in the conference with the goals of: 1) Improving food access and affordability 2) Integrating nutrition and health 3) Empowering all consumers to make and have access to healthy choices 4) Supporting physical activity for all 5) Enhancing nutrition and food security research We are proud to see Dr. Tappenden expanding advocacy for nutrition beyond the UIC community to help make #EveryBodyBetter!
