Congratulations to Kinesiology Clinical Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies Dr. Joshua Miller on the publication of his new book! Dr. Miller serves as the lead author of the Laboratory Manual for Strength and Conditioning. This text can be a useful resource as students prepare for a career as a strength and conditioning coach, athletic trainer, physical therapist, or personal trainer. The labs cover seven major aspects of strength and conditioning including speed, power, flexibility, agility, and fitness.

Congratulations on all of your hard work coming to fruition! We hope students and athletes enjoy this great resource.

Continuing our Great Outdoors Month series, today we have Tyrianna Sorrell who likes to spend her time outdoors hiking, and one of her favorite spots is Starved Rock State Park. She literally jumps for joy when she is outside enjoying the fresh air! 😂

We are pleased to share that two of our AHS staff members have been recognized with 2023 Provost’s Awards. Congratulations to Rachel Najdzin and Jo Wagner for being selected by a panel of their peers to receive Outstanding Practitioner Advising Awards!

The Outstanding Practitioner Awards were established to recognize professionals in direct advising or administrative roles who demonstrate a command of the core competencies of advising and model UIC's mission in their daily work. Their dedication to our students and leadership in our advising community has been recognized by the campus.

Did you know that June is Great Outdoors Month? During Great Outdoors Month, we celebrate our Nation’s vast array of parks, wildlife refuges, forests, monuments, marine sanctuaries, waters, national conservation lands, and other natural treasures.

This month we will be sharing ways our community gets outdoors. First up, earlier this week AHS Assistant Dean Viviana Kabbabe-Thompson chaperoned a group of UIC students on a bike ride through the city! The intent of the ride, co-sponsored by , was to help students get comfortable navigating around city streets, and they hope to make this a monthly event!

Do you ride to campus? Or do you want to ride around campus? Stay tuned for more Ride UIC gatherings as we promote healthy riding in our beautiful city!
