We're very sad to share that Bill Ballou, former member and past president of our club, has passed away.

Bill was a compassionate friend to all who knew him. He was always there for friends who needed a helping hand (or a good laugh) and always had a story to share for any situation. When it came to Rotary and the causes he cared about, he was both a selfless volunteer and a continuous advocate. He was an ambassador for Rotary everywhere he went and he never wanted people to forget that they can do great things for the world when they work together. He was a dedicated member of our club from the moment he walked in the door and he will be truly missed.

Bill joined our club in 2017 after years of Rotary service in Kearney Nebraska, starting in 1983 with the Kearney Rotary Club. Among his many positions in Rotary, he proudly served as Governor for Rotary District 5630 from 2005-2006, President of the Kearney Rotary Club in 1990-91, President of the Rotary Club of Chicago Lakeview in 2021, and received the Service above Self award from Rotary International. Of the many international programs he led, he was especially proud of his work with ShelterBox, Children of the Dump, Alliance for Smiles, and Water 4 Haiti.

Rotary District 6450 hosted a Day of Service to fight food insecurity in August. Our overachieving club participated in 2 events! Early in the month 4 of our members served 150 people at the St. Thomas of Canterbury Soup Kitchen and just last week we had 4 Rotarians and 2 friends of the club served lunch in partnership with Lincoln Park Community Services.
