June 19th marks the celebration of National Cinema Day in Brazil. Follow the carousel to see some of the INCREDIBLE films that have passed through MOSTRA!

Today! Two films at UChicago Campus from Mostra. The first screening starts at 2PM at the Social Science Research Bldg, room 122, followed by Q&A with film director and a reception. The second screening starts at 4:30PM, in the same room! Join us for an amazing event!

Dear friends of MOSTRA: Brazilian Film Festival,

A reminder that our MOSTRA XIV: Brazilian Film Festival is arriving next Saturday, November 4th. We would again like to invite you to attend our Opening Night Fundraising Event for this wonderful cultural and educational program about Brazil, which will allow you to experience Brazilian Cuisine (Sinhá), music, film, discussion with the filmmaker, our Silent Auction, and the chance to win a United round-trip domestic ticket (good for Canada, United States - all states except Hawaii and Alaska; Mexico and Central America).

Besides the Opening Night, our festival goes on until Nov 18th, and all the films, except for Opening and Closing Nights, are offered free of charge in many universities and other cultural and educational institutions in the Chicago area. The posters below give you all the information about the particular films shown in the first few days of MOSTRA XIV. More to come soon!

Outro lembrete de que nossa MOSTRA XIV: Brazilian Film Festival está chegando aqui neste próximo sábado, 4 de Novembro. Gostaríamos de convidá-los novamente para virem à nossa Noite de Abertura, um evento para angariar fundos para podermos continuar com este maravilhoso programa cultural e educacional sobre o Brasil, e que permitirá a todos experimentar nossa cuisine brasileira (Sinhá), música, filme, discussão com o cineasta presente, Leilão Silencioso, e a chance de ganhar na rifa de uma passagem doméstica da United (válida para Canada, United States - todos os estados com exceção de Havai e Alaska, México e América Central).

Nosso Festival continua até 18 de Novembro, e todos os filmes, com exceção das Noites de Abertura e Encerramento são oferecidos gratuitamente em muitas das universidades e outras instituições educacionais e culturais na área de Chicago. Os posters incluídos aqui dão as informações para os filmes apresentados nos primeiros dias da MOSTRA XIV. Outros serão enviados em mais alguns dias. We are planing already the 14 MOSTRA! it will be great.

It is with a very heavy heart that I heard about the passing of Jose Gomes, with whom I had the privilege to work as we were both volunteers for many years at the Latino Film Festival, and later on, as he was also one of our volunteers at MOSTRA: Brazilian Film Festival. José was a very special person, kind and gentle, and ready to help always with his big smile and warmth. You could not help but feel very special when you were with him. Way too soon for him to leave us! May God bless and be with his family and all his friends who will mourn and miss him greatly."

MOSTRA XIII is so close! And we are so excited to share all of these great brazilian films. On OPENING NIGHT: Doctor Gama directed by Jeferson DE, will be premiering on opening night of MOSTRA November 2nd. AND executive producer Luciano Salim will be hosting a Q&A? How cool is that? As well as some virtual screenings on November 13-14. Save the date!
