Happy Labor Day!
Do you know why we celebrate?
For most people, this is a day of picnic anf family to celebrate the end of summer and return to school for the fall. But did you know how it starter?
On Septebmer 5th 1882, the first Labor Day parade was held. This was the day that the union declared a 1 day strike on the city of New York. They were looking for this day to mean unification of union workers and a reduction in working time (most were putting in 60+ hours/week!) All dtriking union workers were in a parade in New York City, and then had a picnic.
It was not until June 1894 that President Cleveland signed to declare Labor Day as a National Holiday, BUT it was only for federal workers- not the average working man!
Even today, many people work on Labor Day. (even government agencies!)
The recognition of this day as a holiday is up to each individual state and private employer. Many stores are open. Some state agencies. All hospitals. Some medical clinics. Even some service companies and organizations are open for business today.

I finally had the peace in my heart to mark Ebony's profile as a "memorialized" status. She passed away April 1 of this year.
Dozer is still in there, too.
The nice thing is you can always go look at your memorialized pet's page. See the photos you uploaded. Look back to the profile info.
But it isn't in your face.
When you click the profiles for your pets, at the bottom, next to a small blue heart... it says, "visit memorialized profiles."
Having done this before, I knew it takes time, a lot of tears, and raw heartbreak to click the button to memorialize a profile. So I waited.
I got this card from them yesterday.
They don't have to do this.
This is a company who cares.
They care about my money, yes... but this... this is different. This is a basic care for my soul. This shows compassion and love for me as a human and pet parent/companion.
This shows heart.
Thank you . I have said it before, and probably again, you are amazing and compassionate, and everything I strive my company to be. and live on with you and I, and for that I am forever grateful.

So I just learned something entertaining and interesting....

I'm working on becoming "official" as a S*xuality Educator.
This weekend has been jam packed with speakers, breakout sessions, and more! I will have several of these types of weekends while completing this monumental step in my career.
I am blessed to be part of the S*xual Health Alliance program to become certified as an educator - validating what I have been doing for 17 years! ♥️

It is time!

We got a call this morning from the vet with blood test results.
Meechi does NOT have another infection brewing!
The Vet remains optimistically confident it is just inflammation from a bug bite, mosquito, or bee. (Allergy reaction)
Yay! We are to keep giving the meds so she doesn't develop an opportunistic infection, as she has been known to do.
We did not run cancer markers because if it is , we would not put her through that surgery. She had it removed once from a v***a cancer.
BUT she is eating, drinking, playing, and all the dog things normally and does not appear to be in any pain - even with directly touching it.
So thank you, everyone! This time we are ok!!!

As a s*xual health educator, I want to talk about an issue currently flooding the media. There are a lot of feelings on this, so please keep your comments CLASSY AND RESPECTFUL.
I am sure you are seeing it- it is everywhere! I want to clear up some information.
I have read a lotof information about this, from multiple places on the internet, and I have also read opinions and previous records. It is all available for those who seek it out... you just have to take the initiative instead of relying solely on social media! (which, BTW, please be sure you share honest info, especially when it is a heated issue like this one.) Feel free to share my posts- not copy paste- as a s*xual health educator, I pride myself on accurate information and by including my name on the post it is sourcing your information)

Here is what I have found....
Yes, Khelif has been disqualified in the past for inability to "confirm" female gender.
Yes, Khelif has a female passport.
Yes, Khelif identifies and lives as a female.
Yes, Khelif has had "too much testosterone" in her system in the past and been disqualified from matches and competitions.
No, Khelif is not transgender. She was born with both X and Y chromosomes.
I know this goes against what we are taught, as we are all taught a person is EITHER x or y, but about 1.7% or according to the NIH, as many as 1 in 5000 live births are born with both - therefore unable to genetically determine gender. (this is easily found info on Google)
This is called INTERSEX. Inters*x can be classified a number of ways, and chromosomal make up is only one of them.
Please be mindful, Inters*x is not male. Inters*x is not female. Inters*x is not a one or the other situaiton. Inters*x is classified medically as a DSD - difference or disorder of s*xual development - which encompasses a very wide group of issues and developmental differences.
The world of medicine classifies disorder, not wellness. So please know, Inters*x people are not an anomoly, not sick, not "wrong," and not any other host of things social media are claiming about Khelif. She is female. She is not cheating.
Now, all this being said, we also need to look at the other side of things and consider what Italian Premier, Meloni said... we need to be mindful of discrimination, but also cognisent of competing on an even playing field. This opens the IOC (International Olympic Community) to scruitny. Where do they draw the line? (notice I said they)
Medicine is constantly advancing, and the s*xual health field is really only just beginning to understand genetics fully with how it affects gender and gender identity. It was not that long ago that medicine did not even study anything other than male s*xual health!
Please have grace and class when discussing issues. I am always here as your trusted s*xual health educator should you ever need clarification or information.
Both these women in the photo deserve respect. They are elite athletes that have performed at the highest level for their sport. And as a side note, did you know that here in the USA, (as of February) only 18 states (out of our 50!) require any s*xual education to be medically accurate?!?!? You only know what you know, and if you rely on what you were taught at a younger age, it is not only outdated but also possibly misguided information. (points to ponder)
