Meet the artists...
Creative partners, Lucy Riner and Michael Estanich, established RE|Dance Group in 2009 as a means to explore long distance collaborations and present dance theatre works that examine the many facets of human relationships. Executive Director, Lucy Riner, is a Chicago based dance artist and teacher. Artistic Director, Michael Estanich, lives in Stevens Point at the University of Wisconsin as an associate professor of dance. Their creative process embodies rich emotional content and dramatic imagery through the layering of music, text and sculpture. They seek to establish physical memories that enrich their dancing and the relationships created in their works.

We’re back in April!!! Let’s move!!!
A glorious end to a glorious dance! Can’t live without REIdance group!!!
We closed our show on Friday might. I’m always sad when a show comes to a close. It feels so fleeting after all the time and energy spent in the process. A Delicate Hand felt special to me. I often tell people that dance is what saves me pretty much every day. I’m so grateful that I found it in my life and that it fuels me to want to be here and better for my family and friends and students. If you didn’t have an opportunity to see the show, I hope you can catch us in some of our smaller moments throughout 2024. We are only $300 away from our original goal on my birthday Fundraiser. This money supports the work of our dancers and musicians and production crew. And as we move forward into our 15th year as a small, not for profit , arts organization here in Chicago, I look forward to making more work to share with our beautiful extended family.
Thank you to for joining us both weekends. It was a pleasure sharing the stage with you and .travis Always extending our tendrils to include more beautiful humans in our dance family.

Our Story
Creative partners Lucy Riner and Michael Estanich establishedRE|dance group in 2009 as a means to explore long distance collaborations. We are dedicated to the presentation of dance theatre works that examine the many facets of personal, intimate human relationships. The instability and uncertainty of charged relationships act as symbols for living in a volatile, contemporary world. We ground our artistic philosophy in creative exchange, seeking to expand our voices as contemporary artists. We (along with a growing number of collaborators) enjoy an open process where all ideas are shared, investigated, and then crafted into dances that embody a heightened physical experience rich with emotional content and dramatic imagery. Our work reflects a rigorous inquiry into the body's capability for expression through motion and movement—from the subtle to the immense. The winding path from imagined concept to physical reality to audience experience intrigues us and grounds our process. The creative process is an ever evolving dynamic between intention, honesty, intuition and play.
Though we call Chicago homebase for RE|dance group, the partnership rests on a unique long distance collaboration. Estanich lives in Stevens Point, WI, while Riner is a Chicago based independent artist. We became fascinated with the idea of creating work in a new way—generating movement material while we were together and developing characters or deepening our personal understanding of ideas while we are apart. Through conversation and dialogue we establish physical memories that enrich our dancing and the relationships created in the works.
