Despite all the calls and advocacy, neither the White House nor Congress is moving to stop Israel’s genocide in Palestine. Muslim Americans are weak!
Let’s evaluate ourselves as we plan for 2024. “God will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.” (Quran 13:11)

Allah controls the world; we don’t. But we must think, plan, and do better. Then we can have tawakkul, trusting that we did our part, and leaving the results to Allah.
Our children feel for the children in Gaza. They are especially challenged in their public school settings, where support for Palestine can be deemed “anti-Semitic” and the knee-jerk response from teachers and administrators can be to shut it down. It is also a difficult time to be a parent.

The Rohingya refugees held the “August 25th 6-year anniversary,” a day marking the loss of everything, including loved ones, siblings, children, properties, and homeland. On this day, the brutal military perpetrated gang rapes on Rohingya women, an act that the US government has recognized as a “Genocide.” as has the international Court of Justice as a result of Justice For All work with allies and partners over the years. This day serves as a commemoration of those horrific moments that impacted the Rohingya community. It also serves as a call to action for and the international community to take stronger measures in addressing the Rohingya crisis and facilitating the repatriation process to their ancestral homes but only as full citizens of Myanmar with all protections and freedoms in place along with the right to work and freedom of movement.

Please pray for Rohingya - a terrible cyclone is on its way!!
URGENT MESSAGE FROM CAMPS:
PLEASE PRAY!
“As the cyclone No.8 signal is raised, alerting the Rohingya refugee camp using megaphones. Advising to relocate elderly, sick, and disabled refugees to safe shelters & storing water & dry food.
Likely, the center of the potential Cyclone Mocha may directly pass over the Rohingya camp in the Coxbazar district with sustained wind speeds ranging from 130 km to 150 km. Total rainfall may exceed 300 mm throughout the cyclone's landfall. Thus, the hut made of plastic and bamboo will fail to withstand the intense wind of cyclone Mocha. The risk of flood and landslides is exceptionally high.”
Our sisters and brothers there are already in difficult situation before the threat of this deadly cyclone in over crowded unsafe conditions in the camps with reduced essential food and supplies as a result of recent cuts in the food distribution by the world food program WFP because of lack of contributions and donations from UN member countries.
Anniversary Opportunity to Help
Urgent Action Needed on 2nd Anniversary of Burmese Coup Today marks the two-year anniversary of the violent overthrow of democracy in Burma. The brutal Burmese military, not satisfied with genocide against the Rohingya minority, is fighting with 90 percent of its people, while Russia, China and India enable it with weapons sales.

While the United Nations continues to raise concerns about the alarming increase in refugee deaths at sea, it is not surprising that Rohingya struggle to escape lives without hope for the future. Conditions in the refugee camps of Cox’s Bazar remain dangerous, with fears growing that camps may be set on fire by gang warfare.
Thanks to our Rohingya associates, Burma Task Force has posted video testimonies by family members fearful for sons and daughters lured away by traffickers. We ask that you spend a few minutes in solidarity with these Rohingya who may never see their loved ones again; please pray for happy news.

ACTION ALERT: The Sri Lanka navy has arrested the passengers of a Rohingya boat they rescued.
Last week, three Rohingya boats were stranded without food or fuel, the Sri Lanka navy has arrested the passengers of the one boat they rescued. Please write to the Sri Lankan government to implore them not to return the Rohingya to Burma as this will put their lives in great danger. While these survivors recover their health from their ordeal at sea, Sri Lanka should speak with international partners (including UNHCR) about alternatives to “refoulement”-- sending refugees back to their countries or origin is actually against international legal norms. Instead, lawyers for the refugees should be provided for court hearings.
