Today, we celebrate All Saints Day, a day to recognize the exceptional spiritual intercession of the saints in our lives. We honor their contributions and sacrifices to the Catholic faith and recognize that we share a communion with Christ.

Just as God is three persons in one, candy corn, with its three distinct colors, reminds us of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Each time you eat one this season, say a little prayer to the Holy Trinity.

The story of the National Shrine began in 1929, when the people of Chicago gathered for the very first Solemn Novena to St. Jude. On that crisp fall evening, hundreds filled the newly built Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, uniting in powerful prayer and hope. Seeking St. Jude's intercession during difficult times, pilgrims came with their petitions—a tradition that continues to this day.

Day 9 - October Solemn Novena to St. Jude

Today, on the ninth and final day of Novena prayer, we celebrate the Feast of St. Jude. In St. Jude’s letter to us, he says we should always remember that we are “beloved in God” and “kept safe for Jesus Christ.” This is his message of hope for us when our life has difficult moments. Together, we join in prayer to strengthen our faith.

On your Feast Day, St. Jude, we pray in thanksgiving for the blessings we have received through your intercession.
