Neighborhood cocktail tavern. Fine maritime spirits, cocktails and fortified wines served with warm hospitality in a restored midcentury space. Open seven days.
Queen Mary is a neighborhood cocktail tavern in Wicker Park with a history that dates back to the '70s, when seven taverns occupied the small stretch of Division Street. Building owner Mary Kafka operated the bar at 2125 W. Division with her husband until a family tragedy led her to to promptly shutter the business and leave it virtually untouched for nearly 40 years. Familiar with the history and

Next week is , the annual global celebration of Spain’s greatest wine, organized by the Consejo Regulador of the DO Jerez-Xérès-Sherry (). As your local sherry HQ, we always have a wide selection, but this week we had to do something special — so we’re offering, for a limited time only, the whole range of wines from the legendary , the only sherry producer whose exclusive focus is very old sherry.
If you know sherry well, you’ll know these are spectacular wines, and if you’re just sherry-curious, what better way to get acquainted with the region than with some of its very best? Supplies are limited, so join us November 4-10 to drink these while they last!
October marks the start of Alba white truffle season, which means we’re starting to prepare for our annual holiday tradition, the White Truffle Martini! Yesterday we selected our truffles, fresh off the plane from Italy; today we’re shaving them into a few bottles of Reisetbauer Blue Gin, and by Thanksgiving the infusion will be ready. Quantities are highly limited and demand can be high, so watch this space and you’ll be the first to know when this rare and beautiful luxury hits the menu, only at Queen Mary.
Things are getting seasonal around here — next Tuesday the 1st, join us to carve a pumpkin and enjoy some cocktails! Carving starts at 5, and we’ll be showing episodes of Over the Garden Wall starting at 7. Pumpkins are free — sign up here to reserve yours today: https://partiful.com/e/3eVou4gRaMYZkFdAQmj9
A very special time has come around once more at Queen Mary: we’ve received our first shipment of Concord grapes of the season, which means it’s Enzoni season! The Enzoni is a modern classic cocktail, created in 2006 at foundational bar Milk & Honey by Vincenzo Errico. It’s a simple drink, comprised of gin, lemon juice, Campari and muddled grapes. Errico’s original recipe calls for plain white table grapes, but for seven years now we’ve offered our own strictly seasonal interpretation, which for us is truly the essential and definitive version of this drink, using fresh Concord grapes. Jammy, yet brisk and dry, with a beautifully sophisticated balance of sweet, sour, bitter and astringent, it’s truly the essence of fall, and for seven years running it has been our welcome to the harvest season and cooler temperatures. The Enzoni is on the menu today, and we’ll run it as long as we have the grapes in stock — but Concords have a short season, just a few weeks, so don’t miss out!
Exotic citrus season continues at Queen Mary with the magnificent bergamot orange, the Italian sour orange best known as the flavor of Earl Grey tea. Its momentary season is right now, so come enjoy a classic martini garnished with a beautiful bergamot peel, today til we run out!
We love to get creative on our cocktail menu, but sometimes you just want a Manhattan. We serve all classic cocktails, all the time — just ask your bartender!
Happiest 100th birthday to the Queen, our beloved late landlady and namesake, Maria Kafka, 1923–2019. We wouldn’t have a bar without her blessing and inspiration. We miss her very much and hope she’d be proud to see the tavern she loved fill up with happy guests night after night.
Dan and the team at Queen Mary wish you all a joyous, healthy and prosperous New Year! It’s an honor and a pleasure to fix you all drinks every night, and we can’t wait to spend 2023 doing the same.
We wish you all a joyful and warm holiday! Queen Mary will be closed on the 24th and 25th and will return to regular hours on the 26th.
Enzonis may have come and gone, but winter brings its own seasonal delights - such as exotic citrus! We launch this year's season with fresh yuzus, grown in California and just arrived to garnish your martini. Every day, now til we run out!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We’re closed today, but we will return for our regular hours tomorrow.
In our world of year-round agriculture, it’s easy to lose track of the passage of time — but some crops insist on reminding us, such as the Concord grape. Each year at Queen Mary we mark the arrival of harvest season by serving a beautiful, strictly seasonal modern classic cocktail, the Enzoni. Gin, lemon, Campari and fresh Concord grapes — there’s nothing like it, and you can only get it right now. Join us for our favorite and most delicious house tradition, today until the grapes run out.
We could not be more proud and honored to see Queen Mary bartender Paige Walwyn selected as one of ‘s Class of 2022 Bartenders in Residence! Paige relocated from New Jersey to Chicago last year and joined our team in the fall, and her first two menu cocktails — the Bay Watch and the Guava Spritz — are both standouts this season, at once tropical, light and complex. Find her behind the bar at QM every Thursday and Saturday, and don’t miss PUNCH’s interview with Paige and features of her drinks throughout the coming year. Congratulations Paige!

Things change quickly these days — we’re open til 11pm now, but for patio seating and to-go orders only. This presents a real challenge for QM and all bars and restaurants, since not many people are eager to sit outside in the winter. We know, it’s cold out, but we’ve got heaters and hot drinks for you, so let us encourage you to bundle up and brave the elements on our patio! Think of it like going to a Bears game! We promise, the drinks will make it worthwhile, and these days will pass before long.
A clever mixture of fresh-pressed Granny Smith apple juice, pumpkin seeds and two gins — meet the Rings of Saturn! It’s seasonal, sure, but we think it’ll still take you by surprise.
