Hi Friends - for your info!

We regret to inform you that our summer meal distribution food truck will be temporarily off the road due to necessary repairs. The generator completely went down at the end of the day today, meaning we are currently without a working cooler, warmer, or any electricity on the truck. We understand the importance of these meals and are working diligently to get the truck back in service as soon as possible.

In the meantime, please check our social media for our list of other meal distribution locations and schedules. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

The answer to What Is It Wednesday:

A sword! This presentation sword was made by the Ames Manufacturing Company in Chicopee during the mid-19th century. Designed as a ceremonial item, likely for the Freemasons/Knights Templar, it is highly decorated and was not intended to be used in battle. Come see this, and other local history artifacts, in the Chicopee Room. No appointment needed!

Cats in the archive!

Everybody loves a cat picture, and this little one was photographed by photographer Russ Gilbert roughly a century ago. (Photography has always been for cats; who knew?!) Though the kitty remains nameless, the photo is captioned on the back: "'What did you wake me up for?' Asks the cat; sure enough."

To see the back of the image, check it out on our digital archive (https://www.chicopeepubliclibrary.org/archives/items/show/5002 #?c=&m=&s=&cv=&xywh=-65%2C-36%2C1178%2C712).
