Title of Position: CNC Machine Maintenance Technician
Position Type: Full Time
Description of Responsibilities:
The CNC Machine Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repair, maintenance and upgrade of various CNC milling and turning machines and other plant machines and equipment. Our CNC machines are primarily Mazak, Matsuura and Okuma 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills and Mazak Integrex multi-taskers (mill-turns). Most of the CNC equipment include robotic palletizers. The position also includes performing preventative maintenance to ensure that the machinery and the equipment is operating to the specifications and the downtime is minimal so that production schedules are not adversely impacted. The technician will also be responsible for the overall facility maintenance and the management of the building systems such as the HVAC and compressed air system.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to;
Safely perform various tasks related to maintaining, altering, upgrading, and repairing CNC machinery in a machining facility.
Perform routine preventative maintenance (cleaning, check and replace lubricants, inspect machine, replace filters, check, and clean coolant and tanks) on all CNC machining equipment. Verify tolerances and settings are within guidelines.
Inspect machines and other equipment to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair.
Perform machine maintenance and repair (e.g., replace worn parts, repair broken lines).
Make or recommend improvements to production equipment and systems to avoid future failures.
Troubleshoot equipment, the mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulic or electrical issues.
Troubleshoot and optimize process to improve quality and productivity processes. Document and record all issues.
Maintain records of work completed updating tracking systems and documents daily.
Continual improvement of machine knowledge and skills using information provided by machine vendors, self-education, and machine training.
Required Experience:
Minimum of five years of CNC machines such as milling machines, mill-turns and / or lathes in a machine shop environment.
Required Skills:
Thorough knowledge of the mechanical and electrical aspects of CNC machines with the ability to complete general maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
Previous experience with hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting and repair.
Previous experience with and ability to complete spindle replacement and alignment.
Previous experience with and ability to complete turret replacement and alignment.
Knowledge of automatic tool changers and pallet systems.
Past experience with other types of manufacturing automation.
Ability to interface with machine and equipment vendors to determine replacement parts and obtain quotes

Hoppe Technologies, located in Chicopee, Massachusetts, celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2021. Hoppe is an established machine shop operating 24/7 and serving (primarily) the aerospace, defense, and semiconductor industries. Our primary machining areas consist of 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling along with Integrex mill-turn equipment. Additional machines, equipment and manufacturing processes include lathes, robotic welding, deburring, assembly, and inspection. Description of Responsibilities:
Key resource assigned to manufacturing process improvement project teams focused using lean manufacturing tools to reduce variable costs, improve efficiency, create flow, and increase throughput.
Lead projects to automate manual or semi-automated machining and deburring processes using robotics. Determine and specify capital equipment upgrades to achieve.
Lead projects to automate business processes to reduce manual tasks and transactions to increase support function efficiency.
Provide engineering support to New Product Introduction (NPI) launch teams with a focus on manufacturability, process capability, and determining future improvements.
Provide direct technical support to the shop floor to troubleshoot and resolve various manufacturing concerns.
Process Owner for Tooling Management with responsibility for managing all related processes and systems and maintain control of the overall site tool spend.
Key member of the Safety Committee with ability to identify potentially unsafe work conditions and design and implement solutions to remedy.
Provide engineering support to various supporting processes and systems such as Preventive Maintenance.
Implement standards and drive standardization to increase process control and improve quality.
Lead cross-functional teams through 8D Root Cause and Corrective Actions to resolve internal and external non-conformances.
Serve on the internal auditing team and conduct internal audits of quality procedures within an AS9100D certified environment.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Required Experience:
Minimum of five years of experience in a Manufacturing or Process Engineering (or similar) role in a manufacturing environment where machining is the primary production technology. Previous experience automating machining or deburring processes in a manufacturing environment is a must.
Required Skills:
Bachelor of Science (or higher) degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or similar.
Able to manage automation projects and multi-discipline project teams to meet scope, timeline, and budget requirements.
Lean manufacturing certification and experience applying lean tools to drive improvement with an ability to provide detailed project examples inclusive of quantitative results.
Previous experience leading kaizen teams using a standardized approach to kaizen.
Previous formal training and certification in 8D problem solving and internal auditing.
Able to read and interpret complex part drawings and models with strong knowledge of GD&T.
Proficiency in Solidworks with an ability to design conceptual work cells and plant layouts is helpful but not required.

Working under limited supervision, the IT Technician I has responsibility for various information technology task such as troubleshooting and upgrades, will be primary and escalated support for troubleshooting tickets, office application support, PC support, virus removal and various IT related task. Working in conjunction with the Director of Operations the Production Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the entire manufacturing facility to include safety, quality, efficiencies, and meeting customer expectations. This includes driving strategic plans that ensure that production goals are met in the most cost-effective manner delivering expected financial results. In addition, the Production Manager is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in a designated location. The position serves as a point of contact on production issues. Communicating needs proactively with our production team and management. The Production Manager seeks to develop integrated solutions and value-added services to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. The Production Manager will ensure the accuracy and timeliness of tracking, analyzing, and reporting trends and variances. The work requires expediting critical matters, and effectively interacting with all levels of personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures that the facility provides the highest quality products produced in the most efficient manner within budgeted costs. Implements systems to effectively manage production schedules properly supporting the business.
Leads the effort and drives Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques fostering continuous improvement within the facility. Acts in a proactive fashion regarding problem resolution.
Manages profit and loss for the facility and drives Plant performance and reviews KPIs regularly (Daily, Weekly and Monthly).
Leads the overall strategic planning efforts for the location which include cost reduction initiatives, capital planning and resources as well as in other areas.
Manages the overall safety, quality, scheduling, production, shipping, and maintenance functions for the facility.
Leads the effort in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient operation working within all company guidelines and local/state/federal regulations.
Manage facilities and machinery maintenance ensuring preventive maintenance is performed per the schedule
Strives to improve the plant’s safety accident record year over year in creating a positive safety culture for all employees. Conducts safety walks of the facility on a weekly basis.
Conducts talent reviews. Trains, develops, and motivates staff in an effort to optimize the workforce. Delivers performance reviews and any feedback to the team as needed.
Conducts weekly staff meetings which focus on key operative measurements.
Interfaces with customers and suppliers. Visits both as necessary.
Works as necessary to establish positive community relationships.

The ideal candidate will:
Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Operations or Business Management
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in operations, maintenance, engineering and/or process Improvement roles including managing teams of people
Previous experience working in a Lean environment.
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification a plus
Proven experience and record of successes in a high-speed manufacturing environment. Experience with metal processing/metal forming strong preferred
Experience in a commercial role with direct customer contact
Minimum of 5 years of experience with process development and business process design.
Experience managing to the ISO or equivalent quality standards
Experience implementing and/or managing to an Operating System (example: the Toyota Production Systems)

Hoppe Technologies, located in Chicopee, Massachusetts, is currently recruiting and hiring a Welder Operator. Hoppe celebrated its 80th anniversary last year, and we are an established machine shop operating 24/7 and serving (primarily) the aerospace, defense, and semiconductor industries. We are continually upgrading and adding new machines to our shop. A recent acquisition is a Lincoln Electric FAB-PAK, GMAW (MIG) robotic welding system. Responsibilities of the Welder Operator position include, but are not limited to;
Fixture components and operate GMAW (MIG) robotic welding system to produce finished welds and complete parts.
Fixture completed parts in manually-operated hydraulic equipment to straighten and square them to meet blueprint requirements.
Inspect completed parts to confirm conformance to blueprint requirements.
Sand, clean and visually inspect welds and then complete minor weld touch-ups using Millermatic TIG Welder.
Complete Visible Dye Penetrant Limited Level II Non-Destructive Testing process on each part.
Complete glass bead blast on all part surfaces to produce final surface condition on the part.
Use band saw to cut parts and create cross-sections to send out for periodic outside testing.
Become cross-trained in other shop operations such as deburring and assembly and take on non-welding jobs as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Detect and report machine and equipment malfunctions to immediate supervisor.
Communicate with supervisor for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly.
Complete daily and weekly preventative maintenance checklists on assigned equipment.
Within the scope of the job requirements, adhere and comply with state and federal law, the Company AS9100 quality program and procedures, company policies and Safety and Environmental regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Experience:
Minimum of two years’ experience (or educational equivalent) operating robotic or manual welding equipment. Ability to program robotic welding equipment a plus.
Required Skills:
High School Diploma or GED. Technical/Vocational training in welding is desired.
Proficient in assigned welding techniques.
Working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.).
Knowledge of blueprint reading and welding specifications with an ability to use rulers, calipers, and micrometers to check part dimensions.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Must be able to communicate in English (both oral and written) as it relates to the job.
Must be adaptable to a changing work environment.
Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra.

Located in the heart of a precision manufacturing cluster of businesses in Chicopee, MA, Hoppe Technologies operates in a modern, 40,000 square foot, climate controlled manufacturing facility on 3.5 acres of land. 37,500 square feet is dedicated to manufacturing while 7,000 square feet is used for office space.
We run a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week facility that boasts lights-out production capability thanks to our perpetual capital reinvestment. Hoppe Technologies has evolved into a single-source solution for close tolerance fabrication, machining and finishing of alloy, specialty alloy and composite materials. We collaborate with our customers in Design for Manufacturing events to lower cost, shorten lead times, increase predictability and provide on-time inventories.
