Mesh bags work great for small amounts of mushrooms/incidental picking! They're lightweight, compact, and if you're just picking a few then you don't need to worry about the corners compacting and crushing your mushrooms from their own weight! I *do* suggest some with supporting fabric if you're using mesh and picking more than a pound or two. 😉

Meet the new 4-H Extension Agent for Montgomery County, Kendra (Kyle) Young. Kendra has been an agent for 26+ years. She is no stranger to the area, grew up in Blacksburg and a Virginia Tech graduate. Kendra is a Montgomery County 4-H alumni and a Virginia 4-H All Star. She looks forward to meeting the 4-H members, volunteers, leaders, donors, and community partners. Let's welcome Kendra with a big 4-H!

Chicks are hatching in programs across the state! 🐣

4-H Embryology projects allow young people to use an incubator with the goal of successfully incubating avian embryos (growing inside fertile eggs) through the hatching process.

This project teaches basic biology and life science to students, as the young people eagerly look forward to hatching chicks. 🧑‍🔬

Below is the link for Junior 4-H Camp pre-registration. Please be sure to save your responses in case there is a question about your registration. Those will be emailed to you after you submit the google form. The link will be open until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. We have not set the final cost for camp, but it will be close to $400 including the cost for buses. The Center increased its fee this year, and the cost for buses was more than expected last year. We will email the final cost with notification of your registration status. Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for notification.
