7 Reasons Why Invisalign is the Best Orthodontic Treatment

Nowadays, many people aspire to have a beautiful, perfectly aligned smile. Luckily, with modern orthodontic methods, straightening your smile is easier than ever. In the past, the only orthodontic method available was metal braces. However, that all changed beginning in 1997 when Align Technology was founded.

A year after the company began, Invisalign was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Another year after that and Invisalign was officially available to be used by dentists for their patients. In 2014, Align Technology estimated that 80,000 dentists have used Invisalign to treat 2.4 million patients since Invisalign was first introduced.

2.4 million is a lot of people, which raises the question: what is so great about Invisalign? To answer that question, here are seven reasons why Invisalign is the best orthodontic treatment:

1. Yields Similar Results to Traditional Metal Braces:

Believe it or not, Invisalign treatment uses the same mechanism as traditional metal braces to move the teeth. While traditional metal braces use brackets and wires to apply pressure to the teeth, Invisalign uses their aligners to apply the same type of pressure. Instead of tightening the arch wire to progress treatment, patients using Invisalign will simply progress to the next aligner. Once treatment is complete, Invisalign also offers similar retention rates when compared to traditional metal braces.

2. It Can Fix Numerous Issues:

Not only is Invisalign effective in its ability to move the teeth, but it can correct a variety of orthodontic issues. Invisalign is able to fix crooked teeth, crowded teeth, overlapping teeth, or teeth with gaps between them. Additionally, Invisalign can be used to correct overbites, underbites, crossbites, and open bites.

3. No One Will Know:

Invisalign aligners are manufactured by Align Technology using SmartTrack® material. It was produced specifically for the use of Invisalign and is clear, thin, and fits exactly around the contours of your smile. SmartTrack® material makes the Invisalign aligners nearly invisible when they are being worn. In fact, people will have to look closely to be able to notice the aligners.

4. Comfortable:
In addition to being discreet, SmartTrack® material is also smooth. This means that the aligners will not rub on the inside of your cheeks and lips like traditional metal braces. Additionally, the snug fit of the aligners ensures that they will not irritate the gums.

5. Easy Treatment:

Treatment with Invisalign is easy. Simply wear your aligners for 20-22 hours a day and only remove them to eat, brush, or floss. You will also need to switch out your aligners every 1-2 weeks. About every 6-8 weeks, you will visit your dentist so they can monitor your progress and give you the next series of aligners.

6. Saves Time:

Not only is Invisalign treatment easy, but it can save you time as well. For starters, the average treatment length with Invisalign is 12-18 months, which is less than the average treatment time for braces. However, your actual treatment length can vary depending on your case. Invisalign also saves you time by requiring less time spent in the dental chair. There are fewer required dental appointments with Invisalign and the appointments you do have to attend are usually quick because there is no need for adjustments.

7.Affordable:

Many people assume that Invisalign is more expensive than traditional metal braces. However, this is not the case and the cost of Invisalign is about the same as traditional metal braces. Dental insurance plans will also cover Invisalign like metal braces. The exact cost of your treatment will depend on your individual case, while the exact amount of insurance coverage will depend on your dental insurance plan. The best way to determine the cost of Invisalign treatment is to schedule a consultation with your local dentist.

Overall, Invisalign is considered to be the best orthodontic treatment because it uses all the pros of dental braces without the cons. Invisalign is versatile, invisible, comfortable, easy, quick, and affordable. These various characteristics make it obvious why Invisalign has been the go-to orthodontic treatment for over 2.4 million people.

What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a small post, usually made of titanium, that serves as a substitute for the root of the tooth. A connector, known as an abutment, is placed on, or built into, the top of the dental implant, which connects it to the replacement tooth. Finally, a crown, a replacement tooth, is custom fabricated to match your natural teeth, completing the dental implant.

The dental implant procedure is the placement of permanent, prosthetic teeth that look and function like the real thing. The implant procedure is designed to be painless and provide a smile that lasts a lifetime. When placed by an experienced team of dental implant professionals, the procedure is one of the safest and most successful in dental and cosmetic practices.

There are 3 main parts of dental implants: the implant, the abutment, and the arch (or crown).

Why Do People Need Dental Implants?

1. To replace missing teeth: People experience tooth loss for many reasons. Some of these reasons include decay, Gum (Periodontal) Disease, Anodontia, medications, chemotherapy, drugs, or injury. Many who experience tooth loss choose to replace the lost or decaying teeth with dental implants.

•For eating: Being able to bite and chew through a variety of foods is necessary for consuming necessary vitamins and nutrients. While dentures only restore up to 25% of original bite strength, dental implants often restore 80-100% of a patient’s original bite strength after the healing period.

•For self-confidence: Those with lacking or unsightly teeth often face anxiety of social situations, and experience greater isolation as a result. Strong and natural-looking teeth often help a person regain confidence to socialize.

2. To reinforce the structure of the jawbone: When a tooth is lost, the integrity of the jawbone underneath it is compromised. The neighboring teeth then begin to slowly drift. This also causes gradual degrading of the jawbone which in turn causes facial deformity. When a lost tooth is replaced with an implant, the integrity of the jaw is maintained.

Why Do So Many People Prefer Dental Implants?

Dental implants are the most natural looking and natural feeling replacement for missing teeth. Unlike other tooth replacement options, dental implants don’t slip or click when you talk, laugh, or eat. And they help keep your jawbone healthy, so that your facial structure stays intact.
