PROBLEM WITH PRIDE – Part 2

Texts: Proverbs 16:18 [NIV], Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.
Proverbs 16:5, The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.
Introduction: Pride is a dangerous sin more than any other sins that can destroy a nation, a family, marriage, church and even cause a believer to live a life of failure and defeat.

I. 2 Kinds of Pride
a. Good Pride – Self-respect and dignity, satisfaction in a job well done and joy seeing others succeed in life.
2Corinthians 7:4

b. Bad Pride – Selfishness’, stubbornness, acting superior, thinking you know it all, root cause of all sins. Prov. 16:18; v. 5

II. Ways Pride devastate life
1. Pride causes conflict
Prov. 13:10, Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.
a. Conflict in marriage
b. Conflict as we put pressure on people
c. Conflict as we gossip others
d. Conflict when we become rude
e. Conflict when we become judgmental and critical of others
f. Conflict when we refuse to admit when we are wrong
2. Pride prevents us to grow and mature in life.
a. Proud people are unteachable. Prov. 11:2
b. Proud people refuse to be corrected and discipline. Prov. 10:17

3. Pride dishonors Life.
Prov. 11:2, When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
Prov 29:23, Pride brings a person low,
​but the lowly in spirit gain honor.

4. Pride destroys Souls. Prov 16:18
Prov 18:12, Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.
a. Pride is the road to ruin and destruction
Ex. National ruin, Domestic ruin, Financial Ruin, Spiritual Ruin

5. Pride angers God because it defies Him.
Prov. 16:5 [NKJV], Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished.
1Peter 5:5b [NIV]…..” “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
James 4:10, 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.



Conclusion: Knowing pride as very devastating sin, get it out of your life right away by the grace and power of God in Christ.

FAILURE TO EXPERIENCE THE FULLNESS OF THE
HOLY SPIRIT (Anointing)

Text(s): 1John 2:20 [NKJV], 20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.
Introduction: As a believer the Holy Spirit is everything to us that Jesus said He would be. But the question is are we allowing the Holy Spirit to have all of us so He can move in us and through us?

Reasons for failing to live an anointed life.
1. Unconcerned about the things of God (Apathy)
Colossians 3:2, 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
A. What kills our relationship with the Lord faster is our busyness.
B. You have to spend time with the Lord to get anointed

2. Lack of Knowledge about the things of God. (Ignorance) 1Cor. 12:1, Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant:
2Tim 2:15, 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
A. Ignorance is to the believer (1Cor.12:1) as blindness is to the unbeliever.(1Cor.2:14)
1Cor. 2:14, 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

John 8:47, 47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
B. Ignorance is a choice
1Cor. 14:38, 38 But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.

3. We limit God with our spiritual experience.
2Cor. 3:18, 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Eph 3:20, 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,


Conclusion: As a believer, as you live AN ANOINTED life and will not take it for granted, you will fulfill your purpose and destiny in life.

Flight 2024

Text(s): Exodus 13:17-18; 21-22 [NIV], 17 Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.” 18 So God led the people around by way of the wilderness of the Red Sea. And the children of Israel went up in orderly ranks out of the land of Egypt. 21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. 22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people.
Introduction: We can face our flight with God in 2024 with great hope and expectations as we rely on the anointing of God in our lives to fulfill our destiny.

Lessons we can learn from Israel’s flight
I. In our flight in 2024, we must conquer fear
A. Our greatest challenge are not the problems around us, but fear within us as we face them. Exodus 14:10
B. We either enter the door of faith or the door of fear. Exodus 14:13
II. In our flight of 2024, take seriously the purpose of God in our life. Deuteronomy 7:6; Jeremiah 1:5
III. In our flight of 2024, we will encounter turbulence of problem. John 16:33
Exodus 14:11-12
A. God uses problem to expose our weaknesses
Deut. 8:2
B. How we respond to the problem will determine our length of stay in the problem.

IV. Assurance of God’s Presence.
Exodus 14:19-20, 19 Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, 20 coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long.
A. Understand the difference between Omnipresence of God and Manifest Presence of God
1. Omnipresence - God is everywhere
2. Manifest presence – Display of God’s power in our life (Anointing of God)
Luke 5:17b, ‘…And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick.
B. No one can function without the anointing.
Luke 4:18 [NIV], “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,
Isaiah 10:27 [NKJV], It shall come to pass in that day, That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.
C. We can have as much or as little of the Spirit of God as we want to be.
Ephesians 3:20, 20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,
2Kings2:9, 9 When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?” “Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,”Elisha replied.
2Kings 13:21, 21 Once while some Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders; so they threw the man’s body into Elisha’s tomb. When the body touched Elisha’s bones, the man came to life and stood up on his feet.


Conclusion: We can overcome fear, fulfill God’s purpose and conquer the problems of life because of the anointing of God upon us!

JESUS, What an Awesome GIFT!​12-17-2023

Text: Isaiah 9:6, “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Introduction: Christmas is that moment in time when God in His unconditional love for us has step out from heaven and came down to earth to give us an awesome gift, JESUS CHRIST.

WHAT DOES GOD’S AWESOME GIFT DO FOR US?
1. This is the only Gift that can save us and forgive from our sins.
A. Every person that is born on earth has a sin problem.
Romans 3:23, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Psalms 51:5, 5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.
Romans 6:23, 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
B. A Gift that has the power to forgive us from all of our sins
Matthew 1:21, “21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
C. A Gift must be received in order to benefit us
Isaiah 9:6a, “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given;”
2. This Gift will describe to us what Jesus will do by His Name
A. Wonderful (full of wonders)
B. Counselor
Psalms 23:2-3, 2 He makes me to lie down in [a]green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
C. Prince of Peace
Romans 5:1, Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Conclusion:
​As we receive God’s awesome GIFT, Jesus Christ we have all the joy, the hope and the peace, that made our life worthwhile and meaningful, that the world could never offer.

Experiencing God’s Best​12-10-2023

Text: Galatians 4:4-7. 4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, Abba, Father!” 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Introduction: Though we are in an imperfect, crazy and messy world, living with imperfect people, how is it possible to experience Gods best in every areas of our lives? People are. screaming for help in a troubled world, wondering God are you still there? Is God still working wondrously in my life?

💕What is Gods best.
Definition: Gods perfect will pertaining to your personal individual life, to your family, re: purpose, timing, place, events and circumstances and the people you deal with everyday.
Galatians 4:4-7

Truth. God gave us His best and HE wants us to receive His best
WHY GOD IS THE BEST?
Isaiah 9:6, “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Exodus 3:14a, And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.”
Revelation 1:8, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Colossians 1:15, 15 He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.




Hebrews 13:8, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. . …..

Q. Does God STILL MANIFEST his attributes TODAY? Absolutely!


How do I receive and experience God’s Best
1. Receive Christ Adoption and establish relationship with Jesus
Galatians 4:5

2. Non stop Seeking - (Not Google search but Bible search)
Jeremiah 29:13, And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
3. Only value what Jesus value in life. Faith in God, Love for others, Relationships, trusts, honor, humility, forgiveness, etc
Colossians 1:17, And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
Galatians 4:7
Luke 12:15
And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”

4. Obedience (the hardest part?).
Galatian 4:6
ex. Christ going to the cross fulfilling the redemption of humanity

BRINGING-IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

Texts: Luke 2:11-12 [NKJV], 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a [a]manger.”

Introduction: Christmas spirit is more than family gathering and gift giving under the Christmas tree but the awesome celebration of God’s precious gift for man-kind salvation, our Savior Christ our Lord.

What must we do to bring-in the Christmas Spirit
1. Christ must be your first love
Mark 12:30, 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.
Matthew 24:12, 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.

2. As a Believer we must fulfill God’s plan for our lives.
A. ex Mary….Luke 1:30-31, 30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.
Luke 1:38, 38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
​B. ex. Joseph…Matthew 1:20-21, 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is [a]conceived in her is of the Holy




Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall
call His name [b]Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” V.24..” 24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife,
Note: You only obey God when you do things you don’t want to do or has struggle in doing it. When doing it you learn to deny yourself and fulfill the crucified life mentioned in….
Mark 8:34. 34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
​Luke 6:46, 46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?

3. Tell Others about Jesus Christ
Luke 2:17, 17 Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child.


Conclusion:
As we bear the Christmas spirit in our lives we can be a difference maker and turn this world upside down for Jesus.
