🚒 CAMP BEYOND THE SCARS 🚒 Today, @Burninstitute and @ChulaVistaFD came together to give the kids from Camp Beyond the Scars an opportunity to live a day like a firefighter. Campers toured a fire station, participated in a firefighter obstacle course, and rode on the mini tiller. The highlight of the day came from CVFD Firefighter Beauchaine sharing the story of how he was severely burned in the line of duty. He taught campers and volunteers alike not to let the scars from your injuries define who you are, but to lean into how it makes you stronger. It was a memorable day that the campers, volunteers and CVFD will cherish for years to come.

Last week, Chula Vista Fire Department hosted class CA-219: Wildland Firing Operations This was only possible through the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies. We would like to thank the citizens of Chula Vista for your understanding as we know there was an increase in smoke throughout the east side of our city. This training provided an invaluable experience that will better prepare the students who attended as well as the over 100 support firefighters. On this #Internationalfirefightersday we are able to give back to those we serve with our 2nd annual May the Fourth Be With You Blood and Platelet Drive. Inspired by Captain DQ Nguyen, a long time donor, who discovered he had leukemia after donating platelets in 2023. Unable to donate due to his diagnosis, his brothers and sisters @ChulaVistaFD jumped in to help out. Now we are in our second year, and we hope to continue our platelet drive for many years to come in an effort to help those in need. #chulavista #blooddrive #plateletdrive
@ChulaVistaFD is proud to have another member of the department graduate paramedic school, Firefighter Shane Daley. Shane joined CVFD as an original member of our Single Role EMT rank on our ambulance. He was accepted into Fire Academy 22-01 and became a Firefighter EMT. Shane was accepted into SDFD Paramedic Class 8 while on probation. Yesterday, he officially graduated and will now become part of our Firefighter Paramedic rank. He made the jump to single role EMT and utilized CVFD’s Paramedic School Scholarship program. Trevor Clark will begin his field training with CVFD and become a Single Role Paramedic with our Ambulance Transport System.
