🔥 Academy 24-01 Night Burn 🔥

CVFD Training grounds will be conducting a live fire exercise tonight 6pm - 9pm. Smoke will be seen at East H St and Paseo Ranchero.

Today at approximately 1130am, ambulance was struck from behind by a vehicle, causing our ambulance to spin into an embankment. The civilian vehicle then caught on fire. CVFD personnel grabbed their fire extinguisher, assisted in putting out the flames and extricating the patient.

Coronado FD arrived on scene and fully extinguished the fire and transported the driver to a nearby trauma center.

Administrative offices will be closed today in celebration of Juneteenth. Fire and EMS remain on duty 24/7/365 to ensure the safety of our community.

Crew 1 and SDU Crew 3 and Crew 4 all worked together to clear over 10,000 feet of hand line in prep for CA - 219 class being hosted next week.

Numerous partnerships were formed to make our high-rise training come to life. barricades made our hallways realistic to make the stretch!

CVFD high-rise training included lessons on water supply. provided a hydrant which was a crucial aspect to learn how to get water to the 22nd floor.

The Annual Chula Vista Firefighters Easter Egg Hunt is ready to spring into 2024 on Saturday March 23rd!

The event will be hosted at Mount San Miguel Park and requires advanced tickets

The Chula Vista Fire Department is sad to announce the passing of retiree Robert “Dudley” Wright. Dudley proudly served CVFD for 32 years. He will forever be remembered for his roots in the Chula Vista community. RIP.

Tornado Warning Issued for South Central San Diego County

The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a Tornado Warning for South Central San Diego County until 12:15 p.m.

At 11:44 a.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Paradise Hills, or near Chula Vista moving northeast at 35 mph.

The National Weather Services reports Impacted areas could include Chula Vista, El Cajon, National City, La Mesa, Tierrasanta, Santee, Lemon Grove, Encanto, Rancho San Diego, La Presa, Paradise Hills, Lincoln Park, College East, Lake Murray, Spring Valley, Rolando,
Crest, Lakeside, Bonita, and Mountain View.

People in the warning area are urged to take cover now. Move to a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.

CVFD has a long standing partnership with Vulcan Materials. The most recent Training Grounds Improvement Project brought in over 400 TONS of gravel to fill in the training area for our firefighters as they train to better serve the community. Project completion would not be possible without the awesome heavy equipment rentals from Sunbelt as well.
