The sound of freedom was never so sweet as it is at the Veterans Home of California - Chula Vista, where two veteran residents and musicians who once played with the biggest of names still blow their own horns.

On this Korean War Memorial Day, we remember the more than 33,700 American military personnel who died fighting in Korea. Some 20,300 others died while serving during the Korean War Era.
The Korean War produced 146 Medal of Honor recipients. The names of 13 of them grace our Medal of Honor Hall at CalVet headquarters in downtown Sacramento. Six of those 13 died in battle, their medals presented posthumously to family members.
Happy 249th birthday, U.S. Army! We honor all those who have served and are serving now.

Today, June 6, 2024, marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
We honor the heroism and sacrifices of all those who served as part of the 1944 invasion of Normandy, which laid the foundation for Allied victory on the Western Front in World War II.
Thank you to the Elks Lodge for their generous and continued support of our Veterans 😃
Congratulations to Divina Tarde - May 2024 Employee Of The Month
On this Memorial Day, we honor those who made the supreme sacrifice in service to our nation. We remember the fallen by supporting the living veterans with whom they served and fought alongside as comrades, brothers, and sisters in arms.
In accordance with the U.S. National Moment of Remembrance resolution, which was passed in 2000, pause from whatever you are doing at 3 p.m. on Memorial Day to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many to provide freedom to all.
Thank you all for making our Founders Day Celebration a success! See you next year!
There often is confusion about the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Memorial Day, which is celebrated on the last Monday in May, honors those U.S. servicemembers who have died in military service to the nation. Veterans Day, which falls on November 11, honors the millions of men and women who have served in the U.S. military.
