June is Brain Tumor Awareness month. Did you know that certain brain tumors can affect the eyes which can possibly be detected during a routine eye exam? Patient’s symptoms can range to being asymptomatic to changes in visions, blurred vision, headaches, vision loss, double vision, and/or more. Make sure you always maintain your annual exams and let your doctors know of any changes in your vision.

January is Glaucoma Awareness Month!💚

Key Facts about glaucoma🔑:
•Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness if left untreated. Unfortunately, approximately 10% of people who receive proper treatment for glaucoma still experience vision loss.

•There is no cure (yet) for glaucoma and vision that is lost cannot be regained. Although with medication and/or surgery, it’s possible to halt further vision loss.

•Everyone is at risk for glaucoma from babies to senior citizens, older people are at a higher risk but babies can be born with glaucoma (approximately 1 out of 10,000 babies born in the U.S.).

•There may be no symptoms to warn you as no pain is associated with increased eye pressure. Vision loss begins with peripheral vision, so you may compensate for this unconsciously by turning your head to the side, and may not notice anything until significant vision is lost.

If you have not already, go ahead and schedule your annual eye exam so that you can make sure your eyes stay healthy!

It’s an optical illusion that creates a bright ring around the moon because the light refracts off of ice chrystal’s in the atmosphere! It is similar to how light refracts in our eyes!

Did you know that diabetes is one of the leading causes of blindness? People with diabetes are more likely to develop blinding eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and cataracts.
As a diabetic, it is important to maintain good control of blood sugar and blood pressure levels. These eye diseases can be prevented through early detection and treatment, so be sure to get your eyes checked annually!
