WE REMEMBER: Albert J. Federman, one of City View's favorite bartenders, patron, and great neighbor, passed May 26. Al worked with us in the 80's and 90's. Except for his vacations to Negril and treks to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Al was always there for anyone who needed him. He may be gone, but he'll always be with us. City View, one of our fair city's more historic drinking establishments, doesn't have an extensive menu. The interior looks similar to many other dive bars: wood paneling and photos lining the walls. And while their menu and interior may seem no-frills, they make one hell of a burger (and bloody Mary) and have one of the best views in the city.

Mt. Adams is known for its San Francisco-like hills, high vantage point over the city and its bars and restaurants, but one local establishment combines all of those. The City View Tavern is a fun little bar with good burgers and a hidden away, local feel, but the best part is its namesake view. The picture window that looks out over the east side of the city might be one of best in town, and there’s also a deck to get even closer. Best seen at night looking out over the city lights.
