Lutheran Church of the Resurrection
A welcoming, caring, nurturing community of faith.
"When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll, whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, it is well, it is well with my soul" (ELW, 785).
What a wonderful group! Twenty women attended our "A Wrinkle in Time" book study this Sunday. Thanks so much to everyone who helped set up, shared delicious breakfast, and reflected together on this great read. 🥰

You know what to do when life hands you lemons ("make lemonade!"), but what about when life hands you gigantic acorn squash? 😮
LCR member Sharon Boyles reflects on the ways her veggie garden teaches her about life's unexpected moments and God's presence.
Not in the Plan Written by LCR Member Sharon Boyles "Sometimes, we shake the apple tree and the universe delivers oranges."~Julia Cameron, The Artist’s Way Back in May, I planted acorn squash seeds that I had saved from last year’s garden. This week, we'll be learning about Joseph of Arimathea, who is mentioned in the Bible for his care and generosity in making arrangements for Jesus' burial. But...you may also have heard about him from later stories about a certain grail. Yup, *that* Joseph!🍷

When our civic life together feels polarized and chaotic, Jesus invites us to love and serve. Join us in taking a centering breath and praying:
"Almighty God, we lift before you all who govern...May those who hold power understand that it is a trust from you to be used, not for personal glory or profit, but for the service of the people. Drive from us cynicism, selfishness, and corruption; grant in your mercy just and honest government; and give us grace to live together in unity and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." (ELW, page 77)

Have you checked out the awesome community-created mobile in our sanctuary? This summer, as we explore the faces of our faith, we invited youth to draw a diverse (and expressive!) assortment of faces and adults to write on them the names of the people who've influenced their faith. The end result is a rainbow of love and wisdom hanging over our altar! 🧡

On July 2, the town of El Progreso, Guatemala was hit by terrible floods. Although our dear friends at DIG suffered some flood damage, many of their neighbors lost their homes and possessions.
DIG jumped in to help and began giving away beds from their Centre, but the need is great.
If you are able to give financially, every bit helps. Please hold the people of El Progreso in your prayers.
