Sad day for us folkies, the longest running music festival , the phila folk festival will be halted. My 1st festival was somewhere arnd 1977 . I remember thinking it was cool , all these hippies in 1 spot having a great time. It was the 1st time I bought my mom something for her Birthday. A leather lighter holder with her name on it and she still has it. Got back going to the fest early 90s and went for the next14 years or so volunteering then life got busy and Instead of festing I was on a baseball or softball field. And then last year I started thinking about the fest and the people I met over the years , and the scene and decided I was going back , put it out there to some friends but none were interested or they were too busy. So it looked like I was going solo, went up early in the week to set up and just a few hours before I was to leave My youngest Daughter Olivia says. DAD. I ll go. And it turned out to be 1 of my favorite festivals , such a good time showing her around , introducing her to different music from what she listens to and she enjoyed it. I hope the folk song society can get this back on track and I am so Grateful I went last year.
