Honey and Oatmeal soap was Chicks and Chives debut soap in 2020, and this recipe has only been perfected over years! There is no added fragrance, simply the scent of pure organic honey sourced from a local beekeeper in Ashville, Ohio. 🍯

Ingredients like shea butter and goat milk are incredibly nourishing. Shea butter is packed with vitamins and fatty acid that provide deep hydration, while goat milk is rich in lactic acid, which gently exfoliates and promotes a smoother, healthier glow.

We believe that sensitive skin deserves the best care possible. That’s why we proudly offer unscented soap and lotion, specifically formulated for those with delicate skin.

Today, we said a heartfelt goodbye to our beloved Carolina, our eldest hen and a cherished member of our first flock. 💕

Even when we were just starting out and unsure of ourselves, she was always by our side. Carolina loved to be held and petted, and her favorite treat was fresh blueberries, which she eagerly ate right from our hands.

Losing her feels like losing a piece of our coop. She truly was a remarkable matriarch. Rest in peace, sweet girl.

We had the honor of creating a custom order for a lavender themed baby shower last week! 🪻

You know we love lavender at Chicks and Chives, so we went all out and made our signature lavender soap complete with a lavender stem grown and harvested from our garden!

✨️BEHIND THE SCENES✨️

As pumpkin spice season approaches, there is a lot of pressure to be prepared. The standards are high in Circleville, pumpkin spice is kind of our thing. 🎃

Last week, we designed a beautiful pumpkin pie soap, but it was quickly annihilated by what I can only assume was our choice of fragrance.

A lot of people don't realize how much math and chemistry goes into soap making and with vanilla being the base of every “It girl” scent of the season, you may wonder why our soap turned from an autumn dream to a Halloween scream.

The short answer is that the fragrance oil we chose contains vanillin. It gives the oil its vanilla scent but causes discoloration and many other potential problems like a false trace in soap making. Like many of us, it’s simply unstable. But don’t worry, we will have plenty of pumpkin products to go around this year! 🍂🎃

✨️BABY CHICK UPDATE✨️

Our baby chicks are officially 2 months old, and the questions we’re all asking is, “When will they start laying eggs?”

The short answer is that they will start laying around six months, which puts us right around December. Maybe we’ll get an egg in our stocking! 🎄

The long answer is that every chicken breed is different. We aren’t even completely sure that these little chicks are hens! We could hit the six-month mark and realize we are raising roosters. 💀

All I know for sure is that they are growing fast, and we have loved this journey of hatching eggs! 💕

✨️Baby Chick Update✨️

Our 2 baby chicks are growing FAST! They love to eat grass and hang out next to the big girl chicken coop (even though the older ladies aren't very nice to them).

They are getting faster and harder to keep up with. Even though we hatched them from eggs, ameraucanas are naturally skittish, so we try to spend plenty of time with them, so they are used to us! I wish I could've gotten some better photos, but they just aren't very photogenic, and that's okay. 💕

It won't be long before they are ready to integrate into the coop with our other hens! For now, they are enjoying the nursery coop and having snacks all to themselves. 😅
