Luis Beltran '25 shares about his summer experience through the SIE program:
As a Launch intern at E & Y, I was given two-week rotations in 3 different accounting sectors, tax, audit and consulting. The consulting rotation was my favorite as I got to see what huge corporations were all about by seeing how their IT systems came together. I created a web scraper and saw the outcome of it as it has been incorporated into their team’s auditing system today! The most important takeaway is that networking is key! With this internship, I was tasked with things I had no knowledge of and I had to learn on the spot. These challenges really allowed me to learn a lot and really showed me the importance of asking questions.
Without the support of SIE, this wonderful experience would not have been possible. I understand what the real world is like and I grew so much as a person.
Laura is a junior studying Psychology and Economics with a sequence in leadership studies. On campus she is the student director of tour guides at the admissions office, VP of Claremont Women in Business, and runs on the CMS cross country team. Last summer she interned at a subsidiary of Morgan Stanley in Seattle as a Product Marketing Intern and this summer she will be working at Mercer’s career consulting practice in Seattle.
She says that the greatest resource at the Soll Center is the career coaches. After many conversations, she and Gary created a list of firms she would love to work for and that led her to getting a job at her number one firm over the summer!
Good connections made at the Student/Parent Networking Event during Family Weekend, a collaborative effort of Career Services and the Parent Network Board!

Vanessa Romo '19 is pursuing my master’s (Ed.M.) in Education Policy and Analysis at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. After working in an education non-profit/afterschool program for about 1.5 years, she knew she wanted to enact educational change on a larger, systemic scale through policy. Her career shift from the non-profit field to the policy field naturally prompted her to apply to a graduate program that would equip her with the skills and knowledge to make educational policy change. It’s her goal to ensure that marginalized students are given the educational access, opportunities, and resources they deserve. With the tools she gains from her program, Vanessa aims to advocate for educational policies that empower marginalized youth and communities, and advance equity and justice.
