During pregnancy, the pelvic region of a woman can go through a lot of changes. Pelvic alignment is an important consideration for pregnant women, as it can affect both the mother and the baby during pregnancy and delivery. Chiropractic care can help pregnant women with pelvic alignment in a few different ways:

Relieving tension in the pelvic muscles: Tight muscles can pull the pelvis out of alignment and contribute to pain and discomfort in the lower back, hips, and legs.

Adjusting the sacroiliac joint: The sacroiliac joint is the joint where the sacrum (the bone at the bottom of the spine) meets the ilium (the bone in the hip). Misalignment of this joint can cause pain and discomfort in the lower back and hips.

Promoting optimal fetal positioning: Proper pelvic alignment can help ensure that the baby is in the optimal position for delivery.

At our office, Dr. D addresses all of these different elements when helping expecting mommies. Relieving muscle tension and resetting the tone of the muscle is a huge focus. Dr. D uses an activator to help give gentle chiropractic care to her patients. This is especially helpful when there is a lot of changes already happening to an expecting mother. In addition to the activator, we have a wobble chair to help with pelvic realignment! The wobble chair helps to loosen up and reset the pelvic muscles. Chiropractic care will also help to relieve tension in the pelvic muscles, adjust the joints in the pelvis for proper alignment, and will also help encourage the proper fetal position. Dr. D's patients feel at ease when receiving prenatal chiropractic care.

Dark chocolate is a delicious treat that many people enjoy, and it may also have some health benefits, including the potential to help with headaches. Here's a closer look at dark chocolate and how it may be helpful for people who suffer from headaches.

Dark chocolate is made from cocoa solids, which are rich in compounds called flavonoids. Flavonoids are plant-based antioxidants that have been shown to have a variety of health benefits, including reducing inflammation and improving blood flow. In addition to flavonoids, dark chocolate also contains caffeine, which can help relieve headaches by constricting blood vessels in the brain.

Research has shown that dark chocolate may be effective in reducing the frequency and severity of headaches. A study published in the Journal of Headache and Pain found that consuming dark chocolate helped reduce the number of migraine attacks in people who suffer from chronic migraines. The study participants consumed 10 grams of dark chocolate daily for eight weeks, and at the end of the study, they reported fewer and less severe headaches.

"Chiropractic care is not just about treating physical pain, it's about healing the whole person."
In our office, we focus on BIO-HACKING. To Bio-hack is to remove any glitches from your structural, metabolic and emotional systems that prevent your body's natural ability to function at one hundred percent. We apply bio-hacking to the 3 areas:
1. Structural health: Functional Neurology identifies areas of misalignment and structural disease; think nerve pain, migraines, general muscle aches, or postural misalignments. Corrections are made using gentle osteopathic, chiropractic, and applied kinesiology techniques. We achieve musculoskeletal health through alignment and functional movement.
2. Metabolic Health: Functional Medicine is used to identify each patient's cellular health. Blood, saliva, hair, and microbiome analysis can reveal a lot of information regarding an individual. This information is then used to recommend purification cleanse to detoxify the body, including botanical and natural remedies, for ones body to achieve optimized health.
3. Mental Emotional Release: Emotional Health has gained such importance as of recent years. The truth is, one is not truly healthy unless they are free of the weight of emotional baggage. It is heavy, and can actually cause disease. For example, psychosomatic conditions such as IBS are still without a cure. We use mental emotional release to take patients on a healing journey..
Our office knows that healing isn't a linear feat. Over the course of time, effort and consideration to the entire body, more permanent changes can be seen. We're ready to be with you on your journey every step of the way.

Chiropractic care primarily focuses on the relationship between the spine and the nervous system, with the goal of optimizing overall health and well-being. While chiropractic care is primarily associated with physical health, it can also directly influence the mind-body connection and promote balance in a few ways:

Spinal Alignment: Chiropractors perform adjustments to correct misalignments or subluxations in the spine. These misalignments can interfere with the proper functioning of the nervous system, potentially affecting the communication between the brain and the body. By restoring proper spinal alignment, chiropractic care aims to optimize nerve function, which can positively impact mental and emotional well-being.

Pain Reduction: Chronic pain, whether originating from physical injuries or conditions, can have a significant impact on mental health. Chiropractic adjustments and other complementary therapies used in chiropractic care, such as massage and mobility cupping, can help alleviate pain and increase blood flow, leading to improved mental and emotional states. Reduced pain levels can contribute to a greater sense of well-being, relaxation, and mental clarity.

Stress Reduction: Chiropractic care can help reduce stress levels, which is crucial for maintaining balance between the mind and body. Stress can manifest physically as tension in the muscles and increased muscle activity, leading to discomfort and pain. By addressing the physical manifestations of stress, chiropractic adjustments can help relax the body and potentially alleviate associated mental and emotional stress.

At our office, we see many patients with these conditions and also see how they are able to transform over the course of time. The combination of chiropractic adjustments, massage, stretching and mobility cupping allow for correction of the spine, relaxation and nurturing of the muscles, and increased flexibility and blood flow.

Today, we celebrate pregnant women everywhere. From the first flutter of a tiny kick to the excitement of anticipating a new life, we honor the journey of motherhood that begins before a child is even born. Pregnancy can be a time of excitement, anticipation, and wonder. As a mother-to-be, you are already nurturing your child by taking care of yourself and making choices that will benefit your baby's health.

A lot of people don’t know this but chiropractors can treat pregnant women. Chiropractic care during pregnancy can really help relieve hip pain as the baby grows as well as shorten the labor. As the baby grows, your ribs get shifted and the baby can also put a lot of pressure on your hips. When getting treated regularly throughout the 9 months, women tend to have less back pain and heartburn.

At Your Health in Motion, we are helping many women have pain-free, happy pregnancies. The less stress on the mother, the easier it will be on the little one. Our team is eager to help those mothers in need of relief, we love when our patients are able to take this time to focus on preparing for their new chapter of life.

Your love and dedication to your child are already apparent, and we can't wait to see the amazing mother that you will become. We are here to help with every step of the journey!

Mothers are the ones who give us life, and who shape who we become. They are our protectors, teachers, and role models, guiding us through life's ups and downs with their unwavering love and support.

Throughout the month of May, let's honor all of the incredible mothers out there by showing them how much we appreciate them. Whether it's through a simple gesture like a phone call or a handwritten note, or by showering them with gifts and treats, let's take the time to recognize all that they do.

So let's kick off the month of May by celebrating mothers and all that they do. Whether you're a mother yourself or you're lucky enough to have a mother in your life, let's take the time to honor and appreciate them in the days and weeks ahead.

Apigenin is a flavonoid that is found in many plants, including chamomile, parsley, and celery. It has been shown to have several health benefits, including its ability to help reduce headaches.

One of the ways in which apigenin helps reduce headaches is by acting as an anti-inflammatory agent. Inflammation in the body can cause pain and discomfort, and it is a common contributor to headaches. Apigenin has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory molecules in the body, which can help reduce inflammation and alleviate headache symptoms.

Apigenin has also been shown to have calming and soothing effects on the body, which can be particularly helpful for tension headaches. Tension headaches are often caused by stress or tension in the muscles of the head and neck, and apigenin's relaxing effects can help alleviate these symptoms.

To end our week on headaches, we wanted to give some more knowledge on essential oils and how they can help to relieve headaches!

Essential oils are highly concentrated extracts from plants that can have a range of therapeutic benefits. Some essential oils have been shown to have anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties that can help reduce the pain and discomfort associated with headaches.

Peppermint oil is a popular essential oil for relieving headaches. It contains menthol, which has a cooling effect that can help soothe headaches and reduce inflammation. Simply apply a small amount of peppermint oil to your temples, forehead, or the back of your neck, and massage gently.

Lavender oil is another essential oil that is commonly used for headaches. It has a calming effect that can help reduce stress and anxiety, which are common triggers for headaches. Diffusing lavender oil in your home or workplace can help create a relaxing atmosphere and may help prevent headaches from occurring.

Water is an essential nutrient for our bodies, and it plays a crucial role in maintaining our overall health and well-being. One of the many benefits of water is its ability to help reduce headaches. Dehydration is a common cause of headaches, and drinking water can help prevent and alleviate symptoms of dehydration. When we are dehydrated, our body tries to compensate by dilating blood vessels in the brain, which can cause headaches. Drinking water helps increase blood volume, reducing the dilation of blood vessels in the brain and alleviating headache symptoms.

In addition to preventing dehydration, increasing water intake may also help reduce the frequency and severity of headaches. A small study published in the European Journal of Neurology found that increasing water intake led to a significant reduction in the intensity and duration of headaches in participants who suffered from frequent headaches. While the amount of water needed to prevent or alleviate headaches may vary depending on individual needs, a general guideline is to drink at least eight glasses of water per day.

It is important to note that water alone may not prevent or alleviate all types of headaches, and it is important to speak with a healthcare provider if you experience frequent or severe headaches. Additionally, if you are prone to headaches, it is important to stay hydrated throughout the day and to drink water before, during, and after physical activity. Incorporating water-rich foods such as watermelon, cucumbers, and strawberries can also help prevent dehydration and reduce the risk of headaches. By staying hydrated and incorporating water into your diet, you can help reduce the frequency and severity of headaches and improve your overall health and well-being.

Ever wondered what foods might help with headaches?

Omega-3 fatty acids are a type of polyunsaturated fat that are essential for good health. They play a crucial role in brain function, growth and development, and inflammation reduction.

Research has shown that omega-3 fatty acids may help reduce the frequency and severity of headaches, including migraines. They can work by reducing inflammation in the body, which can contribute to headache pain.

Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, and sardines, as well as in flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts. If you're not getting enough omega-3s through your diet, you may consider taking a supplement.

However, it's important to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any supplement regimen, especially if you are on any medications or have any underlying health conditions. They can help you determine the appropriate dosage and ensure that it won't interact with any of your current medications.
