At last nights School Board meeting, the Director of Schools announced that CMCSS would not be arming our teachers thanks to the SRO teams we already have in place in our schools. I'm very thankful for our SROs and happy we won't be forcing more guns into our schools!
Had the privilege to join the Clarksville Master Gardeners in doing some clean-up at the beautiful Historic Collinsville.
Thanks for shaping our future!
It's hard to express in words just how much we appreciate our educators 💙💙💙

I was able to attend the Clarksville City Council meeting last night where Councilperson Karen Reynolds for TN State Senate resolution for the city of Clarksville to oppose voucher mandates from the state was adopted! This is a huge win for Clarksville and CMCSS!
And so the real challenge begins. With the Primaries over, I know my opponent, and I have a path to getting elected. The next few months will be intense. Thanks for all of your continued support!

I'm excited for longer days and warmer weather! As we look to spring, I want to start organizing meetups to be able to hear more of the voices from District 2. Do you have ideas for 'hot spots' or local businesses in the area where I should try to organize an event?
Earlier tonight, I attended the Academies of CMCSS Interest Meetings to learn more about these smaller, focused opportunities that exist within the CMCSS high schools.
I love that our school system provides a variety of options for career and technical preparation, and I aim to expand these amazing programs when I am elected to the School Board.

All CMCSS schools and District offices will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 19. If mission-essential employees need to report to work, they will be contacted by supervisors.
We apologize for the later notice this afternoon. We wanted to review the latest forecasts and monitor the conditions as the wintry mix moved into our community before making the best decision we could for the safety of students, employees, and families. Montgomery County is under a Winter Weather Advisory through 9 a.m. tomorrow. Additionally, a Wind Chill Advisory has been issued beginning at 10 a.m. tomorrow through Saturday. There are concerns about black ice and other travel hazards, especially on elevated, shaded, and untreated surfaces.
We are so thankful for the hard work of our school custodial and Operations Department crews who worked diligently this week to prepare campuses. Our goal is to return to school as quickly and safely as possible, and they worked towards that goal. Unfortunately, the weather has not been cooperative this week.
CMCSS will be able to apply for a waiver from the state for the 4th of 5 days for the closure tomorrow.
Although this weekend will be another bitter-cold stretch, the temperatures will warm up to the high 50s next week. We do not foresee any issues returning to school on Monday, and we look forward to welcoming students back for a great week of learning. Please stay safe and warm this weekend! We appreciate the patience and understanding of our families during this week of closures due to the winter storms.
