During tonight's formal County Commission meeting County Mayor Wes Golden presented certificates of appreciation to five local heroes who applied lifesaving techniques to a man who was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash in June. The County Commissioners and everyone who attended the meeting stood to honor their actions.

The certificates read: In recognition of performing life-saving first aid to a fellow citizen involved in a severe traffic accident on June 4. Your actions embody empathy, composure, and community spirit under urgent and demanding circumstances.

Major Louis Couly (RET), a former flight surgeon, was first on the scene to assist, with Infantryman SPC Dylan Black closely behind.

After reading the reason for presenting the certificates, Mayor Golden stated people like them are a big part of what makes our community so special.
