Not every manifold that comes through the shop is an all out 2+ HP/Inch combination.
Here we have a true pump gas 357 Cubic inch combo.
Something in the 1.33 HP/ Inch range.

For those following the Profiler 12 degree manifold project.

We ended up filling the floor with epoxy to essentially " shrink" the entry cross section and allow us to change the entry shape at the plenum.

This brings up a discussion.
Can an intake manifold be "too big"for an engine combination? Absolutely!

What are some symptoms of a manifold that's "too big" for the combination?

Poor 60 ft times, poor engine acceleration, soft engine torque.

We typically see more of this in small block combinations . The owner orders the baddest looking manifold. Installs it and heads to the track only to be left disappointed with slower time slips.

At the end of the day, there isn't a one size fits all manifold.

Then the manifold is measured.
I'm sure others have their methods, but this works for me and it makes power.

A few weeks ago I ordered these fine cut burs from Greg Cuozzo Killer Carbide Burs .
I haven't had the opportunity until today to try them on an intake port, only parts of an intake manifold.

Love the final finish, the bur never clogged up .
I used cheap penetrating oil to keep it cool.

I receive inquiries about the Edelbrock 2970 and BMP 061050, which is better?
As far as size and shapes they are nearly identical.
After porting the only difference is the dog bone in the floor.
Plenum work was done with a Killer Carbide Burs fine cut burr.

"The hustle is free, the grind will cost you".

What started as 5.5 SQ/Inches at the opening, and performed very well on the Dyno.

Now at 5.98 SQ/Inches,
Let's see if we can break the 1200 HP mark 💪.
