Here’s to more Vertical Oyster Gardens and more oyster reefs in Florida waters 🙌🌊
Not only do oyster reefs filter red tide and pollutants, they create habitats for countless other creatures.
I added baby oyster spats and little blue crabs to show how even an oyster shell has a good influence beyond itself.
This piece was for .boys who are putting in the work and getting VOGs in the water 🦪💪🏻
P.S. You could tell me you wouldn’t want to squeeze one of these little crabs, but I wouldn’t believe you ✨
Nothing like a big blue sky, some gentle waves and maybe a little school of fish swimming by ✨🌊
Today’s prompt “Blue Mind” is about the sense of peace and meditation that the ocean/water can invoke.
So I painted a scene that brings that on for me ✨

This prompt is about coral reefs so I made a gradient of some of the colors you can find sea fan coral in 🪸

Can you find where I hid these Florida wildlife from their pics? 😌
Here’s a list:
🪶 Great Egret
🐢 Hawksbill Sea Turtle
🐍 Salt Marsh Snake
🦋 Zebra Longwing Butterfly
🦀 Mangrove Tree Crabs
🦪 Flat Tree Oysters
🐟 Mullet
🪶 Great Blue Heron
🐿 Eastern Grey Squirrel
🐸 Squirrel Tree Frogs
Life’s beauty is in the little details ✨
I wanted to churn this painting out quickly. But like everything else, it needs time and space to grow into its best self.
So for now we’ve got some happy little tree oysters 🎨🦪✨
I’m thinking I should post more close-up shots to catch some of these details 😍🌿
The green stringy doodads are the seeds that mangroves germinate right on the tree! They drop them off into the water when they’re ready to float off on their own 🌳
When I was a first-time mom, I needed something more flexible to paint with. At the time I used acrylic and needed something else that I could jump back into at random times of the day. Then I tried gouache and it’s been my fav ever since.
These are pretty much all I need to paint with it. A couple brushes, water, a palette, and some basic colors 🎨
I like to think of gouache as the fly-fishing of painting: minimal set up but still effective ✨
🎨
Did you catch the fish I snuck into the water?
I love images that show all the animals right in your face but I think it’ll be more fun to have some hiding in plain sight! I’m open to suggestions for your fav mangrove-dwellers 😁
Swipe for a close up 👉
Some fine art prints up now on my site✨

My new website is up 🎉
It feels awesome to have my own little corner of the internet. You can check out the link in my bio or stories ✨
The shop is also up and has some original paintings available too!
Todays’s prompt: trial and error🪶
I’ve been going through some trial and error recently dabbling in polymer clay sculpture. Here’s a little sneak peek of what I’ve been working on lately 🦉
This particular clay is too sticky, so it picks up every piece of lint you could possibly imagine 😂 I really need to find a better kind. But it’s ok, these little ones already make me smile and I can always paint over the lint.
It’s hard to be patient but I know to trust the process of learning. And to show what I’m working on, even when it’s not as perfect as I’d like it to be. I’m slowly building up fun ideas I want to try. And I’m actually really excited to share with you as I go 😁
Fashionably late to but I thought it would be fun to do a couple of the prompts. Today I get to tell you some stuff about me!
🦋I’m a mom of two wild younglings. They’re scary smart and have way more energy than me
🦋 I’ve lived in Florida twice, but couldn’t appreciate how special it was until the second time. My work usually focuses on it’s amazing wildlife and landscapes
🦋I was into art as a kid but had a huge gap until my BFF got me back into it at 17. Never stopped since 💪🏻
🦋I believe that humans are meant to be stewards of our earth, and that we’re the only ones who can reverse some of the damage we’ve done
🦋I think it’s a damn shame we don’t get to see the stars like they really look here in the city
🦋I just finished up a tech degree and plan to use it to do web design along with my art career
🦋 my favorite things to paint are trees, skies, moths, and water (always learning on that last one)
Some cypress trees and Spanish moss hanging out in the distance🌳
I love to watch how the seasons change the cypress leaves 🍁
Awkward sweat bee valentine for all my weirdos out there 😂🐝
Am I doing it right?
Wintery whispy Florida clouds ☁️
I love the big towering clouds of the summer but these clouds always win me over. You’d almost think someone dragged a paintbrush over the sky while you weren’t looking ✨
P.S. Apparently cirrus means “hairy” and I just feel like “hairy clouds” sounds so uncomfortable. To whom it concerns: please rename, thanks.
A different kind of ecosystem to think about…
Florida has been on a development path since the 1900s that it has never experienced before. That means that we humans need to think hard about how we can make it reasonably work for all its inhabitants, not just ourselves. After all, we are not separate from nature.
Imagine what we can do if we work together✨
Io moths don’t eat and only live 1-2 weeks, just in time to reproduce and pass on the baton 💀
Some other fun facts:
-These are found in the eastern US
-The caterpillars have venomous spines and can give you a pretty good sting
-The moths are A+ fuzzy and adorable (you can cite me on that one 😉)
I linked to more info about these moths in my bio link if you want to learn more about them 🧠
Here’s my piece from the last reel 🌙🦇✨
I have really loved how the black paper works so well with the gouache colors 🎨
The only thing I don’t love is photographing it 😂 it’s so tough to get a shot where the black isn’t reflecting light!
An ode to the angled shader brush🎨💚
🎨
Details on the lovely ghost pipes/ghost plant 🌱
Moon Jellies ✨🌙
I usually work with smaller paper sizes, but I have really been loving the larger sizes lately! So much more room for the little details 🤌
I’ll post up a full process soon 🎨
I made myself a little art prompt for artober next month ✨🎃 I’m painting my usual Florida nature themes with an added nocturnal twist 🌙
I always get overwhelmed with the daily prompts so I made these for each week. It is very low pressure and abstract to let your inspiration guide you. And Halloween Day’s art is just a fun pick of your favorite spooky subject 🎃🕸💀🕷👻
If anyone else wants to join in with me, please tag me in your posts. I would love to see your work :)
And PS yes the hashtag is lame but I wanted a separate one from any other prompts/posts out there 🦇
A Sanderling amongst the sand ✨
Wild sea oats and beach vibes 🌊🌾
I can’t decide if my favorite part is the sand texture or the ocean colors ✨
Packages are on their way! Thanks to everyone who purchased a painting from my first sale ✨🎨
Videos or pictures truly do not do gouache justice, so I’m excited for you to see them in person 😁
The shop is closed now, and I’ll be aiming for future original art sales about every 4-6 weeks.
I’m also working on getting prints and stickers available by October-ish, so stay tuned ⚡️
I’m feeling drawn… I’m thinking we need more coastal nature paintings…
Should I do it? 🌊🐟🌳🦀🪸
